When we first got a home phone number we would answer the calls and it just got too annoying. Whoever had our number before us apparently liked to not pay their bills so we get calls from collections companies ALL the time!! We actually planned to just cancel our home phone but when we called Comcast they told us they would take $25 per month off our bill to KEEP it. It was usually a recording, which is extremely insulting IMO, but if it was a person I waited until I could get a word in and then I cut him off by saying "I'm on the do not call list, please update your records and don't call me again". I said it politely!
