@abbydabbydoodlebug: yeah that sounds just like lo when he has one! Random things will snap him out of it and other things will make it worse. They say you are supposed to not interact, but that doesn't work for us.

Did she have an off day beforehand? (Woke up early or missed a nap?) Our guy is much more likely to get them when that happens. I started,
on days like that, going in to wake him up a bit before we go to bed (or before when they normally happen for you) and he hasn't had one since.

We go through this sometimes and what usually works is for one of us to stay in her room and pretend to sleep (usually we just lie on the floor) until she goes back to sleep. We don't like to bring her into our bed but very occasionally we will do it and that works too.

My husband will go in and sleep with her in the guest bed in her room (it's a queen size bed). She just woke up last night around 2 and he slept with her from then till morning.

Yeah that sounds like a night terror. We've only had one but it was freaky! Took forever to calm him.

Usually dh or I would go and sleep with her in the bed in her room. She loves sleeping with us in there, even though dh and I don't sleep as well.

At that age, I nursed. It was also teeth. This went on for like two months for us, but then DS was back to sleeping all night.

Well, usually... yesterday he woke up crying that DH rode off with his scooter. Huh?

@jedeve: she only stopped after DH sang to her! She stopped for me when I was rocking her but then I tried to give her her pacifiera nd she was like, HOW COULD YOU DO THAT TO ME!? So, yeah. Basically, it took about an hour and a half to put her back in her crib. We just did her bedtime routine again.

I use to give water, teething tablets or gas drops when LO's would wake up (at a year old). Then I would rock them with a lullaby CD playing and after awhile, they would go back to sleep.

Good luck!

My LO usually just wants to nurse. We went through a bad period when my supply dipped a lot after AF came back and she got frustrated and started biting, which made it miserable for both of us...and of course she started waking multiple times in the night and I had nothing to give so she flipped out. It was awful. The only thing that worked for us was to take her out of her room and walk around the house a bit, then go to the kitchen and find something else she would agree to eat. Usually it was those little freeze-dried fruit bits and yogurt. I think she really was hungry because after that, she usually settled down and we could get her back to sleep. I'm legitimately terrified of those kind of night wakings now, though.

My 15 month old (OK maybe not a toddler yet, but she doesn't feel like a baby anymore!) woke up whimpering and then full blown crying an hour ago. Normally, I'd let her find her pacifier and she'd be fine, but she was just laying there wailing. So sad! So I went in and tried rubbing her back, rocking, rocking and rubbing, singing, shhing, everything I could think of to no avail. Finally I turned on the light and still no dice. My husband came in and took a turn and it still took him 20 min to calm her down! What gives? I know she's getting her last molar, but dang. My DH had to sing "goodnight sweetheart"about 500 times. Lol. Now he's reading books to her and hopefully she'll go to sleep without a problem. What do you do with an inconsolable child?
