I would add additional pump sessions, either during the day or in the evening (or both)!

For the first three months of pumping (so when my daughter was three months to six months), I would drink a beer and pump before I went to bed. (Who knows if the beer helped, but it made it more enjoyable for me!) I was making just enough for her and had drained my freezer stash.

When she was six months old I bought a container of formula and it was my saving grace. It really was completely the opposite of how I imagined - stressing myself out to give her 100% breast milk made me almost give up nursing entirely, and giving myself a break and giving her a bottle of formula here and there made it possible for me to keep breastfeeding.

Add a pump after she went to bed. I also only sent what I pumped. If I was an ounce or two short I still didn't pull from stash. She would usually nurse more the next day which would help stimulate my supply and bring it back up.

Same, pump after she goes down and use freezer stash as needed. I had a huge dip after a stomach flu and focused then on increased calories, took a nursing tincture, lactation cookies, etc. But usually between pumping at work and an extra pump at night I can make it.

Formula. With # 1 I stressed myself out with pumping at night and being stressed so much about output. With #2, I just used formula if I didn't pump enough. I never even had one package of a freezer stash because I had no time with a toddler to do extra pumps and in the evening, I iust didn't care enough. My #1 was anemic and #2 wasn't, which I think may have been on account of supplementing with formula.

I will usually grab some from my freezer stash. I tend to make more some days and less some days so it has balanced out. If it happens too many days in a row, I try to add a pump at night.

A few months back, I was consistently under for a couple weeks in a row so I opted to rent a hospital grade pump. It has helped me get back to making enough.

If it's just an off day here and there, I pull from my freezer stash. If it happened a couple days in a row, I'd probably make a concerted effort to boost my supply with an extra pump, extra hydration, galactagogues, etc.

I also pump overnight, normally on the side she doesn't eat on in the middle of the night. If that wasn't possible, I'd probably try for maybe 11pm.
I make enough for her now with my daytime pumps but when I wasn't I did the overnight thing (on one side) to make up for it. But I was already up to feed her anyway, I had to pump regardless since she normally only eats off one side and I was uncomfortable if I didn't.

I pumped one side while she fed off of the other. Now that she eats three meals of solids, I don't sweat it as much, so she gets anywhere from 9-12 oz. a day when she's away from me.

I give formula. I treasure my sleep time too much to worry about another pump session. I know other people would rather give up some sleep to pump some in the evening but that never worked out for me. If I ever tried to do that, my lo would magically wake up 5 minutes after I finished, hungry.

I pumped after DS went to bed, and I really focused on re-hydrating and getting good sleep to see if I could balance it out the next day. I hated those days!

As in, pumping quota! :silly:

I need about 10 oz for T during the day. I only got 3.25 ounces from my first pump this morning. Normally I need to get 5+ from that pump because my afternoon pump usually averages just 4. I know I'm not gonna make it. What do you do when your output isn't making it?
