@Mrs. Bee: I think if they will, it would be helpful. Ask for the generic antipyrene benzocaine because it should be much cheaper than auralgan (generic vs name brand). I always wonder why more people don't prescribe them for symptomatic relief!

@Mrs. Bee: I'm so sorry. I always tell parents that at birth all parents should be discharged with 2 things: topical ear numbing drops and soften. Between the two of those, you can avoid almost any er visit!

@Mrs. Jacks: yah I gave her Advil last night. She was perfectly happy when she was playing though. Must be a pretty bad one. She got 4 hours sleep finally from 3:30-7:30 and is napping now!

Is she in pain? Did you get ear numbing drops (Auralgan or antipyrene benzocaine) for her? Have you been using tylenol or ibuprofen. It just sounds like she's really uncomfortable.

A couple of weeks ago we had a fluke wake up in the middle of the night (it was actually only 10:30pm) and she wouldn't go to sleep. At all. All night. The hubs and I just miserably gathered in the living room and let her do what she needed to do to tire herself out (cry...play...cry...play...etc). Finally, at 4:30am she passed out. It was a pretty bad weekend.

I hope Olive gets better and you get some rest!

I rock him in my arms like when he was a baby. Even though he's super heavy it calms him down, and then I lay down with him. He'll usually wedge his head on my chest and I can usually get him to fall asleep that way.

What do I do? Contemplate putting a "baby for sale" sign on the lawn! lol!!

Honestly though, lots of cuddles and nursing are the only things that will make her sleepy. Or a car ride, but I hate doing that because as soon as we get home she wakes up.

OH Mrs. Bee I hope you get LOTS of sleep. Perhaps a nap today? I also hope that Olive starts feeling better soon. Sick babies just make me so sad :(

We were up every 2 hours last night, of course DH slept through it with no issues. Grrr. He's STILL sleeping. J and I are up watching the news and checking in on our HB ladies (and gents!) ;)

Sounds like an awful night! I've resorted to the swing in the middle of the night when he was sick and wouldn't drink and wouldn't sleep - Tyler is still young enough where he will go in it.

Yeah, it's rough here lately too. I just try to keep a good state of mind, it's so easy to lose patience when I'm I'm really tired, but it's much more pleasant if I can just go with the flow. Speaking of which, I better get to sleep while I can!

lately, I've been able to put my DD to sleep by rocking her in my laundry room while the dryer is running. she looooves that sound. she will instantaneously stop fussing and stare into space. it relaxed her much more than my white noise machine.

Have you tried to putting her in a swing or using a white noise machine? My best friend swears by her white noise machine even to this day. When her son was sick it was the only thing got him back to sleep. (Her son is 5 years old now). So far with Baby Nolan we LOVE our white noise machine. Sometime about it is just really soothing.

Olive has been sick the past couple of days. Last night she was up for hours because she pooped in her sleep twice. Tonight she pooped again and she's been up for over 5 hours. She doesn't want to nurse, she doesn't want to be rocked and just arches her back crying, she cries in the stroller. I even gave her another bath and started the bedtime routine again. I'm sooooo tired, I caught her cold, and she's overtired too.

As soon as she's better, we're crying it out!

What do you do when your LO just won't sleep?
