I would have delayed bedtime in that instance. I've done it many times when the last nap turned out to be longer than expected.

When my LO doesn't sleep she will just sit there and play in her crib, so I leave her be. She's always happy and I feel like if I take her out there's no way she'd fall asleep. If she were screaming I would take her out though.

M's bedtime is 6:30pm but she took a nap at 3:45pm yesterday at daycare. :/ I tried to put her down at 6:30 but she screamed and screamed so.... I brought her into our bedroom. For the next hour, she played on our bed and in our room while I did laundry. Finally, she started rubbing her ears at 7:45 and I knew she was getting tired so, I took her into her room and within 5 minutes, she was asleep. PHEW. That was a late bedtime for her!

I think letting her play in our room was a good choice, though. She wasn't overwhelmed by toys and noisy things, she had just our bed and her imagination to play with.
