I'm so there. Dh has given me some breaks lately (amazing ones, perks of recovering from illness and being pregnant I guess! No objections here!) and it has made a world of difference. I also tend to organize when I'm stressed or feel like things are spiraling out of control. Sometimes we take a break from the stressors and go out as a family, a combo of somewhere I want to go and dd wants to go. We went to the mall for Memorial Day sales and DH watched LO at the play area. Of we go out to eat and then bring Lo to a park. We're planning on berry picking. Last time we moved (a month ago) we packed the stuff we're more particular about and let the movers pack the rest. It was messier but we didn't get charged much more for the packing honestly.

I totally feel you (I also have a two year old going on "threenager" and a challenging 4 month old) so I am in your shoes on a daily basis. I find myself yelling about everything and it turns nagging while my two year old is running around like a nut purposly doing thing after thing I endlessly tell her not to do (squashing the cat, trampling the baby's play gym, doing seat drops on the couch etc. it's exhausting. I also understand as a SAHM of two there are little opportunities for breaks on a daily basis outside of hiring a person to come in. The days I've felt that have been better are days when we keep busy with things that allow my LO to work through her energy (park, art projects, cooking). When she has things to do she behaves better and in turn leads to better behavior and less nagging from me. I've also tried to give myself some slack. As moms we feel pressure to fit this Pintrest Worthy picture of how a mom should be and sometimes I have to remind myself that watching episode after episode of Sophia the First from time to time gives me a break and isn't the end of the world for her. Hang in there!

I try to go to another room to collect my cool. My 3 yo is extremely challenging on a daily basis. I try to follow Janet Lansbury "no bad kids" but sometimes it is really really hard. I've just hired a sitter to try and get some alone time. As a sahm and a husband that works a lot I really don't have any. But I'm a much better mom when I have a little time away.

Go do something silly with her, usually a tickle fight. She starts laughing and so do I, and it's a nice way to reconnect when I'm feeling angry toward her.
Long term? A full day away with friends.

My first choice is definitely to get you some time to yourself to just decompress. If that's not an option though can you plan a low key, fun morning for you and your little one? Get coffee and something fun for breakfast, then sit at a fenced in park and let her run for an hour while you play on your phone or read a book. Grab a cheap toy from the drug store in your way home to buy you some packing time. Reconnecting might help both of you. But a nap and a sitter sounds ideal!

Pay a sitter to watch your kids while you sleep or do whatever you want. Totally worth it.

If I'm home alone I just talk to her. She doesn't understand what I'm saying, but for some reason it helps me to just say out loud "Mama is really frustrated right now because....." Then I take a deep breath and we go do something she likes because seeing her happy makes it a lot harder for me to be annoyed. If DH is home I hand her off and go watch netflix alone in our bedroom for an hour.

In the moment, I take a time out. I close my eyes and take deep breaths and force myself to let to. Then, asap I make DH take over until I am ready to be the parent i want to be again.

I put her in the stroller and go for a walk. Even if it's raining. I find the fresh air helps a ton, especially if I can pick up a horrendously-bad-for-me drink too. Hugs mama.

TV or video. Switch with DH. I've also given myself time outs where I go sit in the bedroom for 5 minutes to cool down.

I try to get DH to take over, but if that doesn't work, I tell DS that he needs to stay in his room until he's ready to calm down, listen, or whatever. I leave the door open so he could come right back out, but he has stayed in there for a few minutes and either screamed or found something to do or both (this is a very new tactic I've been trying out)

If DH is home he usually hears me at my breaking point and comes and takes over, while I go into our room and close the door and give myself a time out (got that term from a recent thread about this, but so appropriate). Or if I'm home alone, sometimes I just have to turn on Daniel tiger and again, go into our room with the door closed. At the very least I put her someplace safe (ie if she's in the changing table and refusing to let me get her dressed, my kryptonite lately, I put her in the ground) and walk away.

This morning I almost lost it over sunscreen. I just got so fed up over her not listening to me. I know she's not even two, but damn if it isn't frustrating just not being listened to all day long. Then she will be so sweet and I feel so bad for being mad at her just being a toddler.

My two year old has been challenging lately. I'm exhausted, not sleeping. My only real sitter (Mom) has been busy. It's hot as hell (makes both me and my oldest daughter cranky!). We're packing the house. Normally I'd have higher patience levels and I have none.

I've been yelling at my toddler for normal toddler stuff and I hate it. She covered her face today when I yelled her name, because she almost pulled a (empty) humidifier down off a shelf onto her head. Which was my fault for letting the cord hang in the first place, but I was trying to get her attention.

I have been hating the Mom I've been lately. What do you do when you need a reset???
