@babyjmama: I was thinking it would be a good opportunity to teach LO about donating to the less fortunate. I like 1 in 1 out...I need that for myself and new shoes, ha!

DS and I purge his toys several times a year. I sort out what to keep for future LO's, what to donate, and toss anything that's broken. He's got 4 toy bins (the sterlite tubs) in his closet, and everything he owns has to fit in them...or at least not spilling out of his closet. So, we purge the old to make room for the new.

My best friend has a 4 year old and they have a 1 in, 1 out policy. He knows that if he gets a new toy (gift or treat for being good) that he has to donate something he already has. I think it's a great idea and plan to use it with J :)

With our first Christmas under our belts, I've started to wonder about future Christmases and birthdays. LO got SO many things yesterday, I don't know where to put it all! We were planning on just getting her a few things but relatives went overboard. I'm also kind of picky about what kind of toys I would like to have in my house...

While she's young, I can weed out the extras and donate them, but what do you bees with children old enough to know do? Do any of you have toy preferences (I really prefer neutral clothes and wood & imaginative toys)? How do you deal with that when it comes to gifts from other people? I think it's great our relatives are so generous, but we have a small house and I don't even know what to do with one Christmas worth of things!
