I print my favorite through framebridge. I request the open back so I can swap out. We do Christmas cards and a album of 4x6 photos from the year.

@Foodnerd81: No Xmas cards. Add to gallery wall in our hallway and to my bookshelf at work (collection of smaller framed photos).

@Foodnerd81: I guess I've gone in the opposite direction.. I at least had a few with my first. I told dh about it and he said "I have tons of pictures," and I said "of all of us?" And he said he didn't realize that was important. 🤦‍♀️ Sooo my middle kid has a slightly scary looking pic of us hanging in his classroom. Oh well, probably only embarrassing for me not him!

@2littlepumpkins: it became more important to me to try for real family photos occasionally when we had our second kid. Getting a selfie or stranger to take one of tom dad and one kid was manageable. With two little I realized I never had decent pictures of all of us. I can take millions of the kids on my phone but I’m never in them!

I would like to have a few prints, holiday card, and also a pic to have for things like when your preschooler needs "a photo of the family" in the classroom. I realized that I have exactly three of those, one in our home when dd was a newborn, a selfie in our bed on NYE (can barely see baby) and one on a trip. Its a big to do trying to get everyone to sit still for a pic so between it being a pain for me and my husband not caring it just doesn't happen. Debating whether we will do a nice pic this year. Had planned on it but idk.

We’ve only had one professional shoot. I framed my favorite pic using Framebidge and it’s displayed on our foyer table. Other pictures have been printed and displayed in small picture frames, but some have been changed out for newer candids. I gave a couple as gifts to the grandmas. DH has gotten the most use out of the pictures and has used them for FB posts with really thoughtful and deep captions.

- Christmas card
- Yearly photobook
- I get the pictures printed for Mother's Day, and put them in the same frames, keeping the old ones in there as well, behind the new one. We have the following:

4 8x10s:
2 in the living room- parent w/ child
2 in the kids rooms- kids on their own

2 16x20: sibling photos or family photos... one is in the playroom and one in our room.

1 20x30, family photo.... this was REALLY large and I kind of feel embarassed, haha. It is at the end of our hallway.

We have a lot of pictures in our house (and it’s a small house!). We have a gallery wall in our kitchen nook which is a mix of some professional and many we took ourselves, just favorites. It’s not perfect at all but I love many of them and look at them every time we eat there.

In our front hall we have a collage frame (like 8ish photos) from each year of professional family photos since we had our first. We’ve had to move some to another area as time goes on but it’s fun to look back at each year. Not sure what happens when we run out of space completely we’re about to get there! Having the wall also motivates me to get family pics done once a year.

Then we have random frames on bookshelves and dressers and make a photo book for each year. So yeah ... I love photos

With professional photos I usually have a couple printed and put them in the frames in our gallery wall. I switch the photos out every so often but usually the professional ones stay a long time. The rest of the photos go in the family album I make each year.

My goal one day is to have two rows of long narrow photo ledge shelves and have a casual grouping of lots of different frames and photos and other pretty things, in a big upstairs hallway. Then it’s in the “family” part of the house, so I’m more comfortable with picture overload than in the “guest” type spaces like the living room.

If you’ve had professional family pictures done, what do you do with the pictures? Just put them in a holiday card? Print them and showcase in your home? Print an lambing?

We’ve had a few over the years- a couple pics were used for Christmas cards or birth announcements each time. Then I’ve printed out a photo to display in a frame here or there. A couple years ago we got really good pics and I did a small gallery wall in our living room which I love. We just had another one and I got some really great photos. Not sure what to do with them besides our Christmas cards- which are already done and printed! I may keep the lay out of the gallery wall but swap in some photos from this session instead of the last one.
