I go to mommy & me fitness classes a few days a week. Exercise + getting out + socializing = triple score! We also read (and chew on) a lot of books, take short walks, & do a weekly baby music class. LO is 6 months. Love the ideas in this thread...I have a feeling I'll be using them in the months ahead!

At that age, I found a mom & baby yoga class and went to that 2x a week. We went for lots of winter walks (I used the cold weather a short justification for getting something hot at Starbucks!). We went to local drop ins and tried to do play dates with friends whenever possible. And just lots of sitting on the floor and playing with toys. Lol.

This is us pretty much every day on the weekend. Its not freezing outside, but we stay indoors alot.

So far LO doesn't seem to get bored playing with his toys. We let him use different toys in each room and througout the day we move around the house. We also try to break up toy playing with reading a few books or watching videos of kids songs. He goes in his exersaucer for a little bit too. Between meals and naps that's a full day in our house.

@Cherrybee: A change of scenery is something that never occurred to me! He'll be grumpy downstairs but if we go up for something he's happy to crawl around again, he probably just wanted to look at different things!

@Mrs. Microscope: Thank you for this, he's been chewing on a spatula for the past ten minutes.

@sunnyday: I always forget about the Early Years Centres! My neighbour goes to Baby Circle but for us it's during nap time, but I never think to check out their other programming.

@oliviaoblivia: You're right, it's going to be a long winter if I don't just suck it up, put on some layers, and go out.

Early years, drop ins, play gyms. Honestly some days for the little two it's just walk big sister to school, go home eat and nap, and walk back for pick up. I try to stop at the park on the way back home. We're so used to bundling up i don't really think of not going out. They're so much easier when they're not bored at home.

Knowing where you are.....Early Years Centres!! Library, or community centre kindergym's. I was one that needed to be out of the house pretty much every day for the morning, then the afternoon would be home for nap(s) and dinner prep/house stuff. Mall walk? Days like today/yesterday an exception, but I definitely still got out with the stroller an hour or so each morning with little exceptions, good for everyone to get some air and bundle up.

Days where I was really stuck at home I found I lad to lesson plan like a teacher would and plan what to do. Crafts, baking, floor time (aka when I could never stay awake!). Let them into the cupboard to play and make a mess. Taking a shower usually always happened those days, and babes would play in exersaucer or something in bathroom with me while I showered.

My daughter loved sorting stuff, so I would make a new "sorting bowl" a few times a week. A large popcorn bowl or mixing bowl, and some random house items that are baby safe, and let her sort and play with those in addition to normal toys. Spoons, tupperware, old hotel key cards, old gift cards, socks, anything! Also, if you are willing to clean up, old newspapers are fun for that age to shred. Just make sure he doesn't eat too much!

S is 7.5 months. We practice sitting up, exploring various toys (I sit on the floor and put her between my legs, facing away from me, with a toy). She goes in her jumperoo. We do tummy time and she flails about trying to crawl. I sing to her - she loves doing row row. I might read her a book - she likes the ones with soft/prickly bits she can touch. She might go in her baby walker for a bit. We look in the mirror. We practice sounds (basically me saying Mama to her while she squeals). I tend to rotate rooms - I pop her on the floor while I tidy each room or fold laundry - she enjoys the change of scenery.

Woke up today to find the weather has dropped 30 degrees since Friday, it's -9, and there's snow on the ground. All of a sudden I'm at a total loss about what to do with W! He's 8 months, and pretty good at entertaining himself on the floor, working on crawling, but I feel a bit guilty about how often I leave him to his own devices and "eat this bowl of Cheerios" will only entertain him for so long. Help!
