I have weird curly/wavy hair that I typically wear in some type of ponytail/messy bun depending on length. For formal occasions I either wear it up in some kind of braid/twist updo that I can do myself or I wear it down with maybe bits pulled back into a clip. It depends a lot on weather and activity, my hair is heavy and hot when down.

We're similar -- wash and go usually, medium length with a slight wave. I just wore it down with the topped partially pinned back to a wedding on Saturday. It looked fine but I didn't like it. I just don't know how to do my hair. Next wedding we're attending is in November, and I think I'll honestly just make a salon appt for something simple and inexpensive. I am not even good at curling my own hair to wear down.

I have curly hair that I usually wear down, so for an event I try to put it in a more contained but still messy up-do, lol

I have naturally curly hair but I had a keratin treatment recently, so I blow dry it straight for events. I actually got a haircut and blowout last week before an event, but then got caught in the rain (and the wind!) on the way. :bummed: When it's curlier, I usually pin it up it in some sort of messy updo.

I have naturally curly hair, so I usually just diffuse it (spending extra time on it,) use a small curling iron to curl some of the curls next to my face or any that seem weird, and then do a tiny bit of teasing at the root. From there, I might add a pretty clip or something.

My SIL is my go-to for dressing up. She always does this half-up beachy curls thing that looks amazing. That could be fun and it’s not too hard (if you have some hair products like gel/mousse/hair spray, plus a flat iron or curling iron).

I recently discovered my second child has given me wavy hair. So I’m trying to figure out ways to bring out the waves. But usually I used to just do a quick blow out to even out some of the kink.

I love YouTube for hair tutorials. Plus you can do a search like “quick updo for fine hair” “easy curls for fine hair” etc.

I get my hair done at the salon right before the wedding. On two occasions I have done “event” hair, but usually it’s just my normal blow dry and flat iron. The only time my hair is freshly straightened is at the salon.

I blow dry it better, or more carefully at least, than I usually do. Sometimes I try to curl it in big waves with a curling iron but usually it falls flat and looks worse. I’d like to do something more interesting but smooth at least is bette than nothing.

@lady baltimore: Nothing lol. Unless I’m in a wedding and they are doing hair, my hair is the same as it is day to day. Wash and air dry like you. Shoulder length wavy and stuck up with some bobby-pins!.

If you are going to a wedding or other formal event, what do you do with your hair? I am a wash-and-go person usually (I blow dry my hair a few times a month), and am usually at a loss when I want to look dressed up.

For what it's worth, I have shoulder length, medium-fine hair with a bit of wave to it.
