We had a galley kitchen when he was that age and somehow he understood that he was not allowed to cross the line into it. He also likes to open the cabinets with the mixing bowls and take them all out. A lot of the time he wants to SEE what I'm doing/cooking so I put him in the back carrier so he's up high and can see better. I also put him in his high chair and let him play with cookie cutters/cooking utensils. When she gets bored of it she will crawl to the living room and back. Then he started putting them behind the cabinet so we got him a small table. He would scoop oatmeal or stick things in play dough over there. Eventually, we let him make salads over there, lol. We have some open shelves under our island that he loves to pull everything off of. I locked cabinets that I don't want him getting into. There are two caninets he's allowed in and likes to pull stuff out of them.
