It has really worked out! I've had 4 dogs, 2 repeats and no problems. I'm a teacher off for the sumemr so I spend a lot of time with them. The cats are self sufficient so we usually just have our neighbor stop by once a day to feed/water/play with them. For the dogs, if we're only gone for a night or two my younger brother dog sits for us. For longer trips we take them to the kennel. The woman who runs it is great, and the dogs love her. Usually, we will have pet sitters come twice a day for our cats and the dog goes to the in-laws (since they live down the road from us). Now we take them to my mom's. The cat we've always left and had someone come by every couple days. The last few trips, my MIL has house and dog sat for us. She is polite and well mannered and I trained her not to bark. Poor thing despises all the barking! I take her with me or have someone come in home. We have two dogs, one of which is very energetic and puppy like even at 2-3 years old, and we have tried different things. We've taken them to my parents house, they already have 2 dogs and a cat, so it's a little ridiculous. Plus last time the big one got into a fight with one of their dogs! The dog was fine, but my dad somehow stuck his hand into our dog's mouth while breaking it up and got a pretty nasty bite : ( I felt so guilty! He almost had to have a surgical debridement cause he waited to go to to doc. </p> <p>So this past weekend, we had our babysitter stay at our house with the dogs!
