Fruit! Watermelon & Cuties A TON in the summer when I was in first tri! Carbs. French Fries. Even now in 3rd tri, it's still hard for me to ever pinpoint a "meal" I'd find appetizing. Lately, I crave a lot of sweet "breakfast foods" like cinnamon buns, french toast sticks, pancakes, etc. Stuff I usually never touched before! It's been sad since I'm kind of a foodie and loved to eat prior to pregnancy.

Toast, rice, avocados, egg whites. Those are my staples right now. I just found my favorite (non-pregnant favorite) rice crackers that I can 't ever find anywhere, I bought 4 boxes and now I'm afraid to open them!! My husband has had a
Stomach issue today, I've felt overly nauseous today so it's been really hard to find anything to eat. I had leftover potatoes from the potroast last night.

@Grace: I discovered the smell of chimichurri was 100% guaranteed to make me want to vomit. Pb wasn't appealing but almond butter was fine.

What's with the super sense of smell when we are so nauseous already? :(

@lawbee11: Aww - that's too bad. I find the protein helps. It's weird how everyone's different though - I couldn't be like Futuremrsmk. Peanut butter is my one true food adversion.

@Grace: I ate egg salad sandwiches almost everyday for the first couple of weeks! Now eggs in general make me gag...makes me kinda sad because I really liked them at first!

The only thing I could consistently eat was peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (sometimes just peanut butter).

I ate a lot of egg sandwiches or jimmy john's. Protein made the nausea go away.

@lawbee11: I know!! Hummus was a favourite the day I went to the grocery store. Now I actually gag just looking at the container. My poor husband has to eat all of these things that I don't want.

@redsmarties: that's the worst part--that it varies day by day. One day something sounds delicious and the next day it has me dry-heaving! I've learned to not stock up on things at the store.

Its so hard! I know that once I eat, I will start to feel better, but NOTHING sounds good. For the first few weeks of nausea, I found that anything citrus-y was good. The last week its been apples, cheese, and tortilla chips. Now, it totally varies day by day - I'm thinking I might have a popsicle before bed.

It's really hard! The things that helped seems to change every few days, but there were a lot of crackers. Basically simple processed things were easiest, but you are right that every single meal was a struggle. Sometimes in the store, something looks good but by the time I get home it looks disgusting. If it is getting worse throughout the day, see if you can get a little extra protein in the morning, since I did find I felt a little better after more protein, even though most protein sources grossed me out.

I feel like I am just coming out of the worst of it, at 11 weeks, but it's still slow go-- one day I'm fine, the next not so much. Good luck and remember it's short term!!

I usually ate carbs but I have gestational diabetes this time so I sipped on hot soup or drank sparkling water. I stayed away from food that smelled strong...ripe bananas was always a trigger for me.

These days it's a huge production deciding what I want to eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner because nothing sounds appetizing. I can usually get away with oatmeal for breakfast, but my nausea gets worse as the day goes on and by dinnertime I am really stumped. I know if I don't eat I will only feel worse, though.

So tonight for dinner, this is what sounded appetizing: broccoli and cheese, watermelon, and a slice of cinnamon raisin toast. Wtf?? DH thinks I am insane. What do you eat when nausea strikes?
