@Red: we are big on smoothies, so I really like that recipe you suggested! I'll try it soon.

my suggestion: homemade Popsicles made of fresh fruit puree and yogurt

Along the same lines, you can also try chocolate tofu pudding since Charlie likes chocolate. There's plenty of recipes online or you can simply blend together 1 package of silken tofu and 1 package of chocolate pudding mix. Add some melted chocolate to make it extra yummy.

Silken tofu already has a pretty mild taste and the fruit (especially berries) masks the tofu taste pretty well. I made some for my nieces and nephews and they didn't even know it had tofu. Of course, they are used to eating tofu in Chinese food, etc. so their taste buds wouldn't notice anything unusual.

My brother is diabetic so I use silken tofu in desserts (puddings, banana cream pies, mousse) a lot to add protein and lower the Glycemic Index. At parties, people will sense that it's not quite the same but my dessert table is always empty at the end of the night :)

How about a tofu smoothie to give him some protein? Below is a recipe but you can also make one with just silken tofu, fruit, and honey.

Applesauce? Or does he have any other favorite fruits you could perhaps puree?

Try jello! You can make it and have him drink it warm before it sets up if its too hard to eat solid. And would he do like chicken broth through a straw?

Charlie has some canker sores (long story), and so it hurts him to eat.

So far, he's drank two bottles of milk, an iced coffee (with a straw), a homemade milkshake (with a straw), and assorted cookie fillings. Plus chocolate, which he loves.

Any suggestions on what to feed a two year old when it hurts to eat?
