@mrsjazz: she'll eat them if I mix them with other stuff. I just wish she liked them. I'm afraid to have a picky eater!

@yoursilverlining: there are some really good ideas in there! Thanks!

@jennylynn: Can you hide the veggies in something else? I forget who posted it, but there was something on the boards yesterday or the day before with a recipe for pancakes that had pureed spinach in the mix? You might be able to sneak some veggies in that way.

@mrsjazz: I'm jealous that your LO eats so many veggies! M is definitely not a huge fan (even with the purees), but I keep trying.

I read that tip somewhere too, so I tried coating them with the flaky baby oatmeal thinking it would work the same. Yeah. It didn't. :p I'll have to pick up some cheerios this weekend and give them a shot.

Lo eats just about everything (she doesn’t care for purees, or for us feeding her – very independent!)

Ravioli “fingers” – I just cut regular sized ravioli into strips that are easy for her to grab

Penne or rotini pasta with red sauce or with butter/olive oil/parmesan cheese

Veggie "sticks": sautéed summer squash, zucchini, sweet potato, carrot, etc. Add some spices and/or a shake of parmesan

Sautéed mushrooms and sweet onions

Spinach and/or kale chopped tiny and quickly steamed/sautéed, and then I add a little Penzy’s “apple pie” seasoning (cinnamon & nutmeg)

Soft fried up apple slices in butter, with cinnamon added
Waffles/pancakes

Chicken tacos: shredded chicken with soft cooked kale and tomatillo salsa

Avocado chunks

Beans (whole, soft cooked)

Spaghetti and meatballs with red sauce (chop up spaghetti and meatball into bite size)

Small sized fruits like grapes and blueberries

@winniebee: LO does great with baby yogurt, but cottage cheese seemed to upset her system. So I've tried to take it slow with dairy :)

LO basically eats what we eat: pancakes, toast, spinach, kale, broccoli, sweet potato, carrots, pasta, meatballs, sausage. I just cut everything into small pieces.

@jennylynn: I read a tip about grinding/smashing Cheerios into a flour-like consistency and coating slippery pieces of fruit like peaches in them so that it's easier for them to pick up.

@jennylynn: I scramble them in olive oil -he seems to like! He might still have a diary intolerance, so I don't cook in butter and don't add milk or cheese (which I'm sure he'd love)!

@littlebittyhouse: do you do the whole egg? I thought they weren't supposed to have egg whites until 12 months, but she really didn't like just scrambled egg yolk.

LO is 9 months and definitely starting to prefer finger foods over purees. Lately, I've given eggs, waffles, avacado, pasta, potato chunks, roasted squash, contents of soup/stew (noodles, meat, veggies), toast strips (with puree on it), meatball (from pasta), rice. Mainly, I've just been trying to feed him whatever we are eating (but cut very small) and he seems to really like that. Last week we had tacos and I minced up the chicken taco meat and gave him 1/2 black beans and rice and he loved it. Most of the rice ended up on the floor, but he ate the rest of the stuff.

I want to try making the falafal fingers that were on the blog last week.

pancakes, avocado, black beans, rice, cheese, shredded chicken, strawberries, peas, clementines, blueberries, pasta, scrambled eggs!

hope that helps?

LO is 9 months and one thing i've been feeding him is:

grabbing a big-ish handful of spinach leaves, and chopping them as small as I can -- saute for a minute in a drop of olive oil, then adding one egg scrambled together. I try to cook it lightly so it stays fluffy with no egg crust, so LO can gum it easier. He loves eating scrambled eggs and doesn't mind the yummy spinach, either. He'll eat half of it at one meal and the other half at another meal.

LO is 10 1/2 months, and is really starting to prefer finger foods over purees. That's great, except I feel like I don't know what to give her! She's not big on green beans, or broccoli, but she'll eat cooked carrots. She'll eat pears and peaches, except she still wants me to feed them to her (she has a hard time picking them up because they are slippery). And that's about as creative as I've gotten so far.... DH works 3rd shift, so I don't do much cooking except for on the weekends. What are some fast and easy things you give your LO?
