It was one of my hubby's requirements that there be a coffee shop within walking distance. And where there is coffee, there is other stuff. So we have coffee shop, pharmacy, grocery store, pizza place, gas station, 7-11, 3 parks, all three levels of schools, church, ice cream shop, bowling, pub, and 3/4 of a mile is a really big mall too. I have walked there with my dogs (it also has a dog park area), but not with the baby yet. I'm sure I will this summer!</p> <p>My favorites things that are walking distance are: Trader Joe's (5 minute walk, it's amazing), Whole Foods, our favorite sushi restaurant, Menchie's frozen yogurt, Target (15 min walk), and lots of other shops and restaurants. Even though we live in LA, where everyone drives everywhere, it's nice to be able to walk to some places.</p> <p>Oh, I forgot our church is walking distance! They have a preschool we'd like to send L to (they also have K-8, but it'll be too expensive for us). I'm excited for getting ice cream with the kiddo this summer and walking there to get pizza as a family! I run/walk a lot, so to me, up to 2 miles is a reasonable distance. But if we're talking about half a mile or so, let's see...a convenience store, a gas station, a golf course, and an elementary school. But the convenience store has really good ice cream, the golf course has trails to run on and is an off-leash dog park in the off-season, and the school has a big grassy field and a playground.
