They are more pronounced in the summer for some reason and can even look like a bruise at times. I had them removed with laser ablation when I was 24. I'm 32 now and they are still gone. I was expecting some to show up during pregnancy but I've been lucky. I got them when I was 15 and 125lbs. Getting them is typically hereditary, but excess weight can exacerbate vascular problems. After the laser I had some remaining spider veins treated with sclerotherapy.
