A short-sleeve zip-up duster robe with pockets. How's that for specific? :) I adored having one with a newborn. I kept hair ties, ear plugs, chapstick, my phone, nipple cream - whatever I needed in that front pocket. I could unzip quickly to nurse but still have coverage that tented over my baby pooch and c-section wound. I could just wear it by itself when I was going through the post-partum sweats and stay cool, or wear PJs underneath it when I was cold. I got a charcoal gray terry one from Kohl's, so it was plain and subtle enough open the front door to receive a package or something.

A really good sleep mask (maybe even 2 for both parents) and a box of earplugs.

The Contigo Grace water jugs both DH and I can't live without anymore. I was drinking SOOO much water.

For baby, I would say the Dream on Me pack n' play mattress. Its $30 bucks and my son sleeps so well on it. Its the type of thing most parents don't want to by because you don't want to fly or travel with it (in fact we have one at each grandparent's house because of this), but love having if its gifted or whatever.

@Mrs. Bee: Gift card for a massage! Or maybe a facial for those who aren't as comfortable with massages.

Agreed. I was going to suggest a new robe or nursing-friendly jammies.

I spend way too much time trying to figure out the perfect gift! I'm visiting a friend who just had her third, and I'll probably bring a bunch of food that she can freeze, but I still want to give something special.

What have been some of your gifts that have been hits? Or what would you have liked as a second/third time mom?
