I love lifestyle photography, and I always look for photographers that have beautiful black and white photography and ones that can use light beautifully instead of fixing it with photoshop.

I also want someone who includes the digital files, because I care far more about those than prints. If I have to pay a crazy amount for the digital files, I find another photographer.

they have to take beautiful pictures of course, and i must have the original files. i work with a different photographer every time just because i want to try them all out!

price-wise they are usually $500-$800/hour in ny.

I check out the style and also dislike too much editing- I feel like a good photog can get you good pictures SOOC (which means less post-processing time). Also a disc with all the images is a must. I don't understand the audacity some have to charger per print.

@highwire...Whenever I have done shoots, I always give the disc with all the images. That is definitely something I like too!

I love more lifestyle photography as well, but those newborn shoots with some props can be so cute too! It's can just be a big investment for props and all that setup. I didn't know what most people prefer.

Natural, lifestyle photography. But my biggest pull is when they offer a disc of all the edited images with print release included in the package. I'm not a fan of having to pay hundreds of dollars for a photo shoot and then have to give another $150+ for a disc of images so I can get them printed.

I like natural, lifestyle type photography with minimal editing. I hate over-processed, unnatural photos.

I look at their work and make sure I like their style and how they pose subjects in natural settings. I like very clear photos with good composition and minimal editing. I hate too much Photoshop and special effects....I despise Photoshop actions!

What do you look for in a photographer for your family? Do you prefer more of a lifestyle shoot? studio setting? What type of price range?... etc...

I am interested in pursuing photography as more of a career instead of just a side job or hobby and am curious as to what most people and families prefer these days.
