I have cousins who were raised in the city in SF and when they come to visit they express how kind everyone is and I have to agree. I'm proud to live in a 'fly over' state. I love how Filipino food and culture is a mixture from so many other cultures. I also like how there's cultural similarities to the rest of Asia and Latin America. I also think it's great to see the vast difference in appearance of Filipinos, some look Hispanic, others Asian and everything in between. I love the food of course (curry chicken, oxtail, roti, ginger beer (not the carbonated stuff you buy at the store, fried or boiled sweet plantains). I love the fact that many Caribbean people love a good party with dancing. I also do love the fact that there is a respect for elders and even with the partying people can be bit a bit formal. I like things a little old school sometimes. </p> <p>@highwire: You need to come to NYC! There are a few great Jewish gourmet restaurants that I like plus the traditional Jewish delis. I loves me some lox, matzoh ball soup, hamentaschen, and a good pastrami sandwich...oh my! </p> <p>I LURVE Korean food.
