@travelgirl1: Thank you. I am so impressed with how strong you've been through all of A's health issues. She is one lucky girl! You should also feel awesome about persevering through all of the breastfeeding challenges you experienced as well!

@highwire: This is so true for me too. I've totally been putting on my big girl pants and learning to get over myself and my insecurities in order to do what I think is best for both of us. I hate making phone calls and going to events where I don't know anyone, but I called to check the babysitters' references and am working hard to grow my "village" by going to mom's group events, etc. I've also had to be assertive at work in order to protect my breaks so that I can pump. Go us!!! :)

@MaisyMay: Yeah, I never thought I could get less than 4-5 hours of sleep and not be scary!

I think all of the moms on HB are amazing!!!!!!

I'm pretty laid back too. Not too worried if he gets a little dirty of the floor while he learns to crawl, etc. I'm also pretty confident in my parenting decisions despite the naysayers that come along and think I'm doing it wrong.

That I'm willing to let go of my own hangups and leave my comfort zone (breastfeeding, singing out loud even though I have a terrible voice, etc.) and do whatever I need to for my daughter.

I am so patient with her. When she's screaming and crying, DH gets frustrated fast but I handle it until I get her calmed down. Also, the sleep deprivation hasn't made me too grumpy. I love cuddling LO and talking to her.

@runsyellowlites: I hope I carry on having a soft heart. And you should be super proud of the breastfeeding, it's soo hard!

@rawrasaur: Not second guessing yourself is so awesome! This is something I aspire to.

@Running Elley: OMG yes the sleep is a big one. Sometimes I think I'll never sleep properly again, but I don't resent it. I do resent DH for his sleep though, lol.

@mrskc: You sound like an awesome, fun mom!

@Kemma: That's so awesome! You're should an advocate for it too, you always supported me on here when I was struggling to breastfeed!

I'm insanely proud that I've pushed through all our issues to exclusively breastfeed until five months when we introduced solids. I heart breastfeeding :-)

I would have to say how engaging I am with him. I'm always talking to him, playing with him, snuggling with him. I'll do silly things like have a dance party or make funny faces and funny sounds at him. I never thought I'd be that type of mom.

I'm really proud of how well I handle sleep deprivation haha. I've always been very selfish about my sleep but now that LO is here I don't have any problem getting up in the middle of the night/early with him. Obviously I'm tired and I'd rather him STTN or sleep in but the sleep deprivation doesn't get to me like it used to.

Such a great thread!
I love that I have so much patience and don't let the more difficult moments get to me. I also love that I have confidence in my choices and don't second guess myself - I think a lot of it comes from all the research I have done, but also because I really feel like I know my LO.

This is a hard one for me at the moment b/c we've been going through a couple pretty big changes so it's been high stress... and after almost 9 years I'm past the time of easily being fun & creative. Thanks for "forcing" me to think outside the "mom of the year award" box.

So I think the very best thing I've managed to do it keep DS with a soft heart & honest in circumstance that easily causes young boys to become otherwise. With P, my dedication to breastfeeding her despite all the issues we've had is something I'm pretty proud of.

@PurpleUnicorn: I know exactly what you mean about the love, I can't get over how much I love her and how insanely natural it is to always put her first.

@MamaBehr: That's awesome! Dance parties are the best : )

@Mrs. Confetti: Isn't it amazing when your little one smiles at you? I love that.

@mrs. wagon: They're some great qualities! I really hope I'll be good at disciplining A!

@Mrs. Pen: Creativity is SO important isn't it? I'm already getting excited about the creative things I can do with A when she's older.

@78h2o: You should be proud of yourself, you always come across as putting your LO first in your threads. I hear you on those supply issues too, so.much.work!

Love this!

Honestly, I'm very proud of myself! I feel like I've been doing a great job taking care of my LO, even though I'm dealing with a lot of stress and don't have much help. I am good at telling what she needs and soothing her when she's upset. I am loving, fun, and patient. My baby girl lights up whenever she sees me. :) I've been working very hard to make the best decisions possible for her, which includes doing research and educating myself on a variety of topics. I'm working hard to breastfeed/pump, despite some challenges with supply. I've gotten involved with a number of mom's groups (breastfeeding support group, play groups, mom's running group, etc.) so that I have the support I need and she has lots of playmates!

I was thinking of starting a thread like this!! :D

I am really good at communicating with Wagon Jr. I can almost always understand what he's saying (not easy at age 3!) and I really work hard to get him to express what he wants to say, and start a dialogue with him. A lot of times Wagon Sr. will just say "okay, uh huh" when he doesn't even know what Wagon Jr. is saying, but I like to stop, drop everything, get down on his level and really connect with him.

I'm also good at disciplining him, I think. I'm consistent with my discipline and I have a no tolerance policy for whining and bad attitudes. As soon as I see it, if he's not able to control himself and stop whining or turn his bad attitude into a good one, it's an immediate time out. And time outs work so well for him. At the end of the time out he is always ready to behave!

How silly I can be, when I need to be. I go to a bootcamp class and the kids are in strollers, if I see a bored kiddo or one that is upset I try to be as silly as possible to get the kiddo to laugh. I'm known as the "silly one" by all of DD's friends.

And spontaneous dance parties, we have those a lot!

what a positive and awesome thread! My first thought was I like how knowledgeable I am. This site has helped tons, but I also read a lot and I don't realize how much I "know" until I find myself telling DH all the time "I read this about that, etc..." and it changes the way I do things in little ways which benefits L. (I hope that makes sense and wasn't too vague).

And honestly, I am sure everyone will say/feel this, but it still feels new - I like just how freakin' much I love him. It's overwhelming in a good way and because of it, his needs are automatically number one.

It's so easy to be critical as ourselves as parents, but I think we all deserve a pat on the back for doing a great job : ) So, what makes you a great parent?

I love that I have bags of patience with A, I never get annoyed with her and am always calm. I've struggled on through a nightmare breastfeeding journey, and really worked hard on making the best of her hip dysplasia issues - for us and other parents going through it.

How about you? What makes you an AMAZING mom?
