Aww. DS is only 9 weeks old but I already miss so much!! He was a very easy baby (learning this more and more as we go!) so it's natural that I miss it I think. Especially his wee tiny clothes that I already packed up!! :shocked: :crying: It is going WAY too fast. I wish I had taken more videos!!!!!!

At 16 months I really miss nothing. But my son was a realllllllllllllly hard newborn. I have held and watched other people's more normal newborns for a few hours and I can see how you'd miss that, but I'm almost 6 months pregnant with my second and I was just telling my husband last night how I can't believe we survived DS1's newborn phase. If #2 could be easier that would be fantastic.

If I miss one thing it might be the immobility but he screamed constantly so I didn't get to leave him THAT long.

The snuggles, the ability to fall asleep anywhere, the sweet newborn smell! But that's about it- I'm not a newborn person. I love 6 months and up, and personally think it just keeps getting better and better!

And the nursing, milk drunk faces, baby coos, and how cute he was all swaddled up and snoozing. Ah! I can't wait for another one.

@oliviaoblivia: I love you, but you're insane.

@lovehoneybee: all of this! I love the nursing snuggles and the falling asleep on me. Granted, we got very little of the latter, but when we did get them, it was amazing.

Our newborn wasn't sleepy or easy, but she was so sweet. I miss the newborn smell, and I really miss nursing (I think this is largely amnesia, but at the moment, I do). I also love the way they smell just after they've been baptized and anointed with oil. Sleepy baby + Chrism oil = bliss.

My son's only 4 months and I already miss the early newborn period! The sleep deprivation sucked, but I'd relive all the rest of it in a heartbeat. The new baby smell. The soft baby skin when they're still furry. How they stay all curled up like they were in the womb. The cuddles. The portability. The newness of it all.

My coworker just had a baby and I'm going to go visit next week and I can't wait!!! I told her I'd trade her baby clothes for cuddles.

ETA: I could also skip the leaky boobs. That wasn't any fun.

@Cherrybee: I really don't want to jinx myself, but it seems like G may be an easier, sleepier baby than C ever was after all (after a really really difficult first week or two). Like she can actually occasionally fall asleep on her own in the rock and play, and will lay and look around kicking and moving her arms instead of screaming unless I'm nursing or aggressively bouncing. I hope your second gets the same memo (and that I didn't just ruin things for me!)

Everyone who says they miss NOTHING about the newborn stage either had angelic perfect babies or has forgotten about sleep deprivation. Even the sweetest newborns are up at night to eat!

Pretty much nothing. I found having a newborn exhausting and mostly horrible. I wish I had known then that my son would eventually be fun. I don't mind holding/cuddling other babies, and I think they're cute, but I pretty much hated the newborn stage of parenting.

Don't get me wrong. He was cute. But he became about 5,000x more interesting once he could talk. And I am about 5,000x a better parent/wife/employee/friend when I am not subjected to an inhuman quantity of sleep, crazy hormones, and painful nipples.

Her sleeping on my chest, cooing, just being so tiny and new! :) Last night I was looking at videos I took of her on my phone those first several weeks and teared up! I can't believe it's been 7 months! Those first few months were such a blur so it's fun to have videos to look back on.

Being able to take him everywhere and not have to worry about him getting into something, getting bored, running around, not liking the food. It's gotten better now that he is almost 4 but man, those early days it was so easy to go somewhere, especially if he slept the whole time!

I miss the snuggles too, I still get them but he is so big and heavy now. 7lbs laying on your chest is a lot nicer than 44lbs...
