Nothing... so much sweeping and wiping! I’m in the purging stage of baby crap so I can’t justify buying a mat.

Kid'z Katch! on Amazon. I used it at home and at restaurants. Made going out to eat with our LO so much nicer! Kept my floors much cleaner at home and I loved not having to bend down constantly to pick up her dropped spoon.

We used Bumkins Splat Mats (bought on Amazon.ca). They are expensive for what they are but I liked them because they are lightweight and compact to store, easy to gather crumbs with and machine washable.

Yep we are camp dogie clean up duty. When we traveled I just used an old plastic table cloth, that way I could take it and shake it in trash and then give it a quick wipe down. Worked wonderfully!

It's called a splat mat. I actually don't wipe mine off every meal. I shake it off in the backyard every evening and wash it (if you have a washable one) every few days. Mine is the prince lionheart one that's discontinued. About to get a Bumkins one for the baby.

I'd use a vinyl tablecloth. Shake it outside or in the trash after every meal, spot wipe what you need to, and toss it in the wash after really messy meals or every few days.

We don't put anything under the high chair. I thought about making the splat mat that was on the blog but never got around to it. Really, it would just end up being another thing to clean so we just wipe up the floor and call it a day.

Another vote for dog! We also have tile floors, so a quick steam mop cleans up anything else.

Joann Fabrics sells a splat mat kit made of oil cloth that I would have gotten if the messes were really bad.

I just wipe it up with a wet wipe. Takes me two seconds and seemed like it would be faster than cleaning a mat. How old is your LO? Mine is 11 months (today!) and is really good about not getting food all over the floor now (because if it's on the floor than it's not in his mouth...my kid's a human garbage disposal, just like his father.)

@travelgirl1: I like that idea. I'll have to pick up some free papers.

@PurpleUnicorn: I've heard if using a cheap shower curtain liner, but that's basically the same thing as a table cloth.

For now I am mostly feeding my LO out on the deck and then hosing both the deck and the high chair off. My dog helps out with indoor messes.

It's super easy to clean. Little crumbs do get under so I will, on occasion, clean the bottom but very rarely.

Someone got us a babies r us brand mat that goes under our high chair but I haven't used it. I figured it would be just as hard to clean as the floor and it would be ugly looking.

ETA. I also have a folding up high chair that we put away because we don't have much space. So its just one more thing to clean and put away

We use a BBQ mat, one that's supposed to go on concrete or deck to protect from BBQ splatter! It's a thin/light piece of rubber, it doesn't move and is easy (easier than tile & grout) to wipe. Our dog does a good job with the big stuff first though :p
