We use a planetwise wet/dry bag and put clean undies, goggles, toiletries for shower and emergency snack. The gym does have a towel program we use or else we’d brjng a towel. She wears her suit there but we’d pack that if she didn’t. Then wet stuff in the wet part and everything else in the dry part!

I bring a wet bag (search for a planet wise one on Amazon) for the suits. I also always bring snacks. He's incredibly hungry after lessons and normally crushes two pouches in the locker room. I also only use one towel.

We have swim lessons on saturday mornings so DS wears his swim suit there with pants and a shirt over it when it's cold. So his bag will only have a towel, goggles and the rest of what he will be wearing that he didn't walk in with. We go right from the pool to the shower so we don't towel off until after shower. We barely bring anything and it's more than enough.

DS1 is 5.5, and we bring a backpack with his swim shorts and shirt and a towel. Because we have DS2 there with us, it doubles as our diaper bag with wipes and diapers for him too. We change him back into his school clothes when he's done, and he does hop in the shower at the pool just to warm up. He tends to get super cold after swim class regardless of if it's summer or winter.

He also just started using goggles regularly. I'd bring them and then ask if it's too early to start using them. I wish we would have had him use them earlier, so that's a lesson learned for us with DS2. Since your little one is 3.5, I'd bring the goggles and have them teach him how to properly put them on and use them.

Unless indicated by the teacher, I'd leave the goggles at home. Our teacher hates them, and notices that kids spend more time fussing with their goggles than paying attention and participating in the class. So be sure to ask about your teacher's goggle policy!

We take a swimsuit/shirt, one towel, clean underwear, pajamas (our lesson is at 6:30 pm). I don't want him dependent on goggles, he showers at the gym using the body/hair wash provided by the gym, I roll all the wet stuff up in the towel and throw it in a re-usable tote I got from the dollar spot a Target.

Thank you all for the feedback - this helps so much! It looks like I should get a wet bag for his wet clothes. I think I'll just keep a change of clothes in the car if he happens to get super dirty at school - it happened yesterday but for the most part I think he will be able to put on his school clothes after.
Bathing at home after the swim lesson seems like the way to go - it should be simpler that way - thanks!

We would just bring goggles, a swimsuit, shampoo, and a towel. I could fit enough for two kids in one backpack. They wore their same clothes from beforehand. I didn't even need a wet bag- our pool had one of those swimsuit spinner things, and I just wrapped all of it in a towel when we were done.

My son is only 2 and we just moved out mommy and me class so the list is getting shorter. Do you want to shower there to cut down on night time routine? We go on Saturday mornings so he just puts back on the same clothes. I use an LL Bean tote and a wet bag. I really like the Logan and Lenora wet bags, I get the midsize that can fit a towel or two plus the wet suits.

A comb is essential for us too. Also my son wears a swim shirt, I just think it is easier to avoid any confusion when summer comes around as it is a non-negotiable when we are outside so rather than even show him there is another way he just always wears one. Maybe ar your son’s age he would understand the difference.

We use the diaper bag backpack and put in his swimsuit, towel and a plastic bag for wet items to come home in. I usually carry DS to the pool from the locker room or he walks barefoot since it is only a few feet.

He puts the same clothes back on after his lesson and we take a bath at home that evening. It is too hard to try to shower him without getting all wet myself.

I feel like that's a lot of stuff! We just use a duffel bag or backpack with one towel, swimsuit & swim diaper and we put her back in the clothes she wore there. We don't shower off after.

Wet bag for the wet bathing suit. My son loves a terry robe after he's done swimming.

I don't use a swim shirt in an indoor pool, only outdoors.

Same as @Mamaof2: except DD just goes barefoot for the few steps from locker room to pool. We bathe at home before bed.

I throw everything in a reusable tote and bring a wet bag for the wet items.

Even if you shower at the pool, I'd feel comfortable using the same towel from the pool and same clothes.

Why can't he put the same clothes back on after lesson? I also don't think you need two towels. We go from home but for my 4 year old I literally just throw a bathing suit and a towel in a tote bag.

DS who is 3.5 starts swim lessons next month. I will be picking him up from daycare and taking him to a pool at a gym. I am expecting to get him changed at the gym. Does anyone have a recommendation for a bag to carry everything and what do you usually take with you?
swim trunks/shirt
towel for when he gets out of the pool
towel for shower
goggles
shampoo/shower wash
flip flops
change of clothes for after lesson
Anything else or do you take less than all of this? Do you bring anything else for the lesson itself?
Thank you!
