Because it's $70 for soup for four people. No one really thought it was really that special...and with something like soup, it's hard to bring the shipping price down to a manageable level. </p> <p>I've gotten "soup" gifts from Wine Country Gift Baskets before and it was perfectly lovely. Sure, I had to heat it up and add water or milk to powdered soup, but it was probably a third of the price. </p> <p>For people not nearby, I usually do gift baskets/bags from Wolferman's. Their products are exceptional, and you can usually do a full brunch for a family for around $50-60.
