I think she'll remember how much fun I am and that I'm always there for her. Not to toot my own horn, but my parents were more like, "go swim by yourself kid!"-type parents, putting it mildly, but I do everything with her. I jam pack as much as I can on evenings and weekends when we're together. I hope they remember our current city since we will probably move when they are around 7 and 4. I hope they remember travels and time with their grandparents and, of course, things we do together. I have a number of early memories (2-3 yo), so I think my older LO is definitely in the range where he will remember things. I was a latch key kid in the 80's and stayed home alone lot while the adults worked. I remember watching The Young and Restless everyday on TV and other soap operas that I wasn't suppose to. I really remember how much fun she has had with her cousins (she constantly wants to play with them), the bond her grandmothers had with her as a child, playgrounds, parks and fun times. Whether these memories will stick as they get older - we shall see I guess. I hope that they'll remember that they had a happy childhood. I hope they'll remember how much their grandparents love them. It's hard because we don't live near either set of grandparents. But I hope the interactions they're able to have with them are extra special. I remember being strapped in the back of a car, a loud fire engine, and a few snippets of parties or travel. I assume my girls will remember the time they stubbed their toe or couldn't find us or something equally mom-representative of our life. I don't know how much they'll remembe since they're only 3 and 18 months. I don't remember much from childhood, but then again I don't think I did all that much that was memorable. My kids are 3 and 5... maybe they'll mostly remember things they did after the age of 4? I try not to think about it too much, because I like to fool myself into thinking they'll remember everything we do with them! Probably not though, huh. I think they'll mostly remember things that we do regularly, like visit my parents overseas every summer and wear matching pajamas on Christmas Eve. What do you think your kids will remember about their childhood?
