I'm using a lamp with a 25 watt bulb. A dimmer switch is a great idea! I have installed them in other rooms in our home and its very easy. Just turn off the breaker and then it's like 2 wires you hook up. Totally doing this!

When she was really little I used a small night table lamp in the nursery. She was awake anyways getting fed and changed and repeat. Once she started having smaller awake periods and not nursing so long at night I put 2 small night lights in the room and that was enough. DH had trouble falling asleep with the extra light at first (baby slept next to our bed) but he learned to deal and it made it so me and baby barely woke up, and I liked having some light since I was up and down so much anyways.

He doesn't wake up now in the MOTN but when he did I used a bedside lamp. One of my first purchases that I sent DH for was a very low watt bulb. It was hard for ME to fall back asleep with a bright light.

Hubs installed a dimmer for the overhead lights in the master bedroom and the nursery. It was awesome. For the one in our room he even got me one with a remote control which was perfect for when LO slept next to the bed because I didn't have to get up. I could just turn the light up a few notches and lean over and grab her to feed her.

i was timing my nursing sessions with babyconnect on my phone so would use that as a light if necessary, although usually there was enough moonlight/streetlamp light coming in through the window.

for diaper changes, i only changed them if they were poopy. since the diaper wipes were going to wake him anyway, i would turn on a table lamp or turn on a light in the hallway leading to the nursery, which would provide enough light.

In our nursery we currently have 2 sources of light--an overhead light/fan combo and we have a side table next to the rocker with a lamp on it. I am worried the lamp will be too bright for MOTN changes and feedings, though (especially feedings since it's right next to the rocker). What do you use as a source of light? Does the brightness seem to affect the baby's ability to fall back to sleep? Should I just get a night light that plugs into the wall?
