@Cole: I made the mistake of using sharpie for outdoor things too. It was in a covered area and still faded. I had to go over it with outdoor paint. I also have done the clay ones for my mom, but they didn't turn out great.

@Cole: love the rock idea!

Just cheapo plastic marker sticks. I'd love some fancy ones though.

I am on my phone and I can't share from the pinterest app but if you search for garden markers there are some fabulous ideas. One was to write on the inside part (the smooth side) of a seashell, they used wire to make a hanger for it. Lots of pretty painted rocks among other lovely ideas most of which seem like a lot of work for a garden I will probably kill :-)

I am looking for something too. My mil was so exited, she read in a magazine that you can write on plastic knives with a Sharpie and use those. She labeled tons of stuff in the garden for me and two rain storms later there was nothing left but some smudges!

I love the stamped clay ones but I kind of want something that I could easily make more of or that I could make extras and label as I go.

Do you use plant markers in your garden? I always see such cute ones on etsy but I'm hoping to DIY.
