We have been going through teething misery with our twins for the last few weeks and while I was super skeptical at first, I have a bunch of friends who suggested trying Copaiba essential oil. When the boys were waking up every 30 minutes for a few nights I was willing to try ANYTHING. I can honestly say I believe in it now. We put it on the boys up to a couple times and day and they seem to be way less fussy!

@Ina85: The banana brush isn't really a toothbrush. Its like a teether with rubber "bristles". I think it probably does help keep their teeth clean(er) but its not meant to be used for traditional brushing.
He loved that thing for a long time, well beyond teething!

@ALBA4: Interesting about the recall scam, not surprising at all. DD likes to chew stuffed animal faces too, but not for very long, she'll bite then move on. It's so cute, as soon as she grabs her bear or whatever she chomps on it's nose, it's so cute and funny!
@EKO: I'm planning to try the frozen washcloths, thanks!
@GINGERBEBE: These biscuits seem great, so quick and easy! Thank you! Interesting about the foam letters.
@SWEETIEPIE: Thanks for your advice about the orajel, I am nervous about it. I'm going to order the bunny ears and the banana tooth brush, we have to start brushing her teeth soon, you let your LO play with the tooth brush like a teether?
@CARDAD: Thanks, going to try out frozen washcloths.

Baby banana brush and there’s one teether that looks like bunny ears (I’ll look for it). And I’ll be honest, I did very small amounts of orajel and Motrin.
The reaction everyone is afraid of in Orajel 1) is very very rare (more infants die from unsafe cosleeping than they do orajel) and 2) it’s a defect they are born with, its not like it will happen to any baby. So I just started with daytime use only in very very small and spread apart doses. Once I was comfortable with his reaction I still used it sparingly, but comfortably overnight. Motrin was also mostly overnight since that’s when he seemed to be most uncomfortable.

ETA: this is the other teether I mentioned. He would go to town on this.
ZoLi Bunny Dual Nub Teether, Orange https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00D3P9FXW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_OxPYzb2866YNN

Oh, I forgot, I did make these for my kids:

http://greenlitebites.com/2011/10/homemade-teething-biscuit/

Basically, you nuke the bread until its really hard/stale so they can gnaw on it. I've made it with applesauce, leftover pouch, pumpkin, leftover banana, whatever gets it to stick. It does get kinda gooey and gross, so I make them sit in a high chair or the Sit Me Up chair or the jumparoo or something.

My kids did not like any teether, Sophie, frozen stuff, or the usual stuff. ODDLY DS2 really liked to gnaw on those foam alphabet letters you get for the bathtub. I didn't give it to him on purpose, but he always dug them out and went to town on it. I think because they're more pliable and can be manuevered into nooks and grannies in the mouth (he was reallllly into the letter K!) but firm enough that if he chomped on it, it relieved some pressure on his gums.

We just used Advil if it was really bad. Most of the freezer teething rings I didn't like because they were so hard. I would just freeze wet wash cloths and he could chew on those.

With DS1 we used Hyland teething tablets, which worked so well btw. With all the controversy @ recalls (which my pediatrician and I think were a scam by the big drug companies), I don't give them anymore to DS2. We give Tylenol when he seems really miserable, otherwise he has lots of chew toys, wooden teethers, frozen teethers, and stuffed animal faces to chew on.

@KT326, @FOODNERD81,@HELLOBEEBOSTON: It's a no for the tablets since they've been recalled, makes sense I didn't see anything like that when I looked at Target the other week. My SIL hasn't used them for like 6+ years so makes sense they're gone.
@KT326: DD likes to chew on the Nuby teething rings after I freeze them and like you said other toys you can freeze.
@FOODNERD81: I don't think I'll use orajel either, I'm not comfortable with using that. And thank you, she's my little nuggy!
@MRS. GOOSE: I'll have to try the frozen pieces of celery, that sounds interesting, thanks!
@HELLOBEEBOSTON: I was trying not to, but if she stills seems real uncomfortable,I think I'll have to give her advil/tylenol.
@PEACHES1038: Yeah, I'll try some baby advil thanks.
@BEES_KNEES: Those are cute, I'll have to try them out. We have the mesh feeders, I'll give her pieces of fruit or veggies in those and she likes that, thanks!
@GINGERBEBE: She has an angel dear lovey but doesn't really chew on it. She just loves on it and rubs her face on it when tired or kind of plays with it in her mouth/with her lips.
@MRS. LEMON-LIME: MIL gave her one of those tag blankets as a newborn and she just never took an interest in it, I'll try baby motrin or advil for her.
@SNOWJEWELZ: I try not to give her medicine too, I try not to take things myself either but it seems like it's best to try since she seems like she needs some.
@ERINBADERIN: Thanks, I haven't heard of those drops.

I think you might be thinking about Hyland's Teething Tablets? I've never used them so have no idea if they're useful, so I'm not really any help there. We used Boiron Camilia teething drops (homeopathic and, I suspect, just water) and Advil as needed.

I've never really done much b/c I never really know if it's teething or what haha! I try not to give meds so aside from cold safe things to chew on I've never done much. I considered am amber anklet for DD2 this time but never got around to it!

we only had to do this once for MOTN, but Children's Motrin worked like a charm. We gave him plenty of things to chew on and that seemed to help. He had a tag blanket with silicon tags and a Grimm wood rattle that seemed to be his favorite things to keep in his mouth.

Baby Advil mostly. DS1 liked to chew on his lovey - it was a fleecy minky little handtowel sized lovey and he would gnaw the corners. DS2 sucked his fingers nonstop.

Agree about the teething tablets - I keep hearing about those getting recalled, I would just avoid.

When teething was really bad we gave some Motrin/Tylenol to relieve some of the pain, mainly when my LOs were really out of sorts.

@Ina85: the tablets you're describing sound like something homeopathic to me. There are a few different types of powders and tablets you can get. You'd have to go to a natural health store around you to see what they have. They don't have numbing agents in th like oracle. For my first I froze pieces of celery and gave them to her to gnaw on and that was the best teething tool I used. I'd give her Tylenol at nap time or bedtime if she seemed very upset by it.

Teething tablets made me too nervous because of the recalls too. And I heard mixed things about orajel so never really used that either (though my friend had great success).

I went through a fair amount of baby Advil during teething. I also had some luck with bourain cammillia drops- homeopathic something or other but my pediatrician said it couldn't hurt. Possibly it was placebo but it seemed to help both my kids. But really Advil was key.

Super cute baby:)

My LO is 8 months old and has 3 1/2 teeth. She has her bottom two and part of a top tooth, about half way out and the other top tooth is about to break through her gums. Poor thing seems to be having some pain/discomfort, she's not herself. She usually hardly cries but she's just been fussy and crying and wanting to be held alot only by me. My SIL mentioned something about teething tablets that are chalky like and have no flavor and how those helped her children but I don't know what those are and she couldn't quite remember them to give me enough info about it. Does anyone know of anything like this? And can you give me suggestions on what I could use and what has helped your babies?
