RJ's not even 2 yet, but I'm pretty sure he's going to be pretty musical. He can barely string two words together, but he can sing along to entire songs, and every time he hears music he starts to dance. He's also obsessed with guitars and pianos. Whether he does it as a hobby or profession, I'd be thrilled if he is seriously into music.

happy, healthy and kind.

I would ultimately want them to do something they loved and still be able to support themselves. An artist would be very cool.

No, I have't thought about that yet but I have thought about my daughter getting married and having kids of her own so I really hope that happens!

My parents expected me to be a doctor but when that didn't work out and I became a teacher, they were devestated. But now they see that my life had turned out well so they're happy. As for my LO, the hubs and I agree that she *MUST* have post-secondary education but she can be whatever makes her happy.

I'd love for them to have an artistic bone in them seeing we are both artistic. I in art, the hubs in music. But really, whatever they want to do that makes them happy.

I'd like our child to be self-sufficient, strong and smart, in ways that matter. I'd like him/her to be college educated, and we plan to help with that. After college, I hope they find a good job that they are happy with. That's all I can ask for right now.

Same as others - I don't really care what they are, as long as they are happy and successful. Ideally, I'd like them to get jobs that pay well enough that they don't have to struggle to make ends meet, but what their career choice is doesn't really matter.

Although, it'll definitely be interesting if they end up with some sort of artistic or physical career, since both Hubs and I are software engineers!

I would like my son to be polite. I would like him to realize that we live in a world that is bigger than his immediate surroundings and embrace all kinds of people.

Education is very important to my husband and I as well. It is our belief that you should have all of the tools possible available to you to succeed, whether that is an apprenticeship or formal education.

Now, having written that, if he wants to be a musician or an artist, that's completely fine with me, as long as he can either make a living off of that, or do other work to bring in money for himself.

Dr or Lawyer was the common theme growing up, I even went to law school for a year last year and gave it up after my company offered to pay for my MBA. I love my job, my company, and I didn't see the benefit of going into debt to fulfill a childhood dream that really didn't seem like it was going to come to fruition.

Like you said, I'll be happy as long as they are active, productive members of society. I'm a huge advocate of lifelong education and learning; so my only hope is that my future kids will embrace the same type of thinking when it comes to careers.

When I was growing up, everyone still wanted their kids to be doctors or lawyers. I considered law school, and my dad was definitely pro med school. But now I have a job that I love and I don't think I could ever be a doctor or a lawyer.

I wonder what Charlie and Olive will be when they grow up. Bloggers like me and Mr. Bee/something internet related? Artists? Musicians?

As long as they're not lazy bums, I'll be happy if they're happy.

Do you have a vision about what your child will be when they grow up?
