I agree with @regberadaisy: -- the change in itself will make you want to break out the shorts, etc. It's supposed to be 70 this weekend and I'm already planning on him wearing shorts. I also plan to temper that excitement with light sweaters that can go over outfits, etc.

In 80s I wouldn't do pants or leggings. Shorts and t shirt or dresses. I'd maybe pack a couple hoodies or cardigans for chillier nights. And a pair of jeans for each for chilly nights.
Have so much fun :-)

I feel like 80 is hot, especially if it's humid! We would be in summer clothes, tees, tanks and shorts or dresses. Maybe a light jacket or sweater of the evenings are cooler.

Tank top and shorts. Sundresses.

My girls would never wear long pants if it was in the 80s!

Pack in layers. Bring some pants and zip-up hoodies in case temps happen to drop.

Last summer we did mostly shorts and Ts or dresses with no tights. Sometimes I would put thin pants/leggings on Fia but mostly only if I was feeling like I didn't want to fight the sunscreen battle. She basically never wore socks all summer. Although at this age with them maybe walking a lot more, socks might be a good idea to avoid blisters?

@twodoghouse: I think going from freezing to 80 will make the 80s feel more like 90s! I would definitely pack short sleeves, tanks tops eve, shorts, dresses. Bring some light long sleeve layers in case it gets cool at night.
Sun hats and sun screen!

Thanks everyone! I've decided to pack a little bit of everything. DD is easier because she has dresses that can be worn with or without leggings. For DS I'll have long pants and shorts.

Depends on the type of heat. It was nearly 80 degrees in our coastal Californian town, this past weekend. LO wore denim shorts, a very lightweight tunic w/the sleeves rolled up, and sandals.

We're in Houston. We've been wearing shorts all week. Especially in the afternoon. I think your kids would be fine with short sleeves and long pants or summer clothes with a light jacket. If the sun is out 80 degrees is plenty warm

My kids wear shorts and tank tops when it's 80 outside (that's what they wore earlier this week... we had a heat wave in SoCal). A light cardigan or jacket is great for mornings and evenings, and light pants (like leggings) are OK, too.

Its mid-70s here where I live. I would do a short sleeve tops and long (but lightweight) bottoms with a thin jacket or cardigan for mornings and nights. I generally prefer to keep my son cool in a way where his knees covered so that if he runs around and falls he doesn't scrape his legs. He's been wearing lightweight jersey pants, thin leggings, or culottes (cuffed shorts that go under his knees) with t-shirts or 3/4 sleeve tops right now. In the mornings he wears a cardigan or a thin fleece vest over the top. I always have him wear socks and sneakers, just because I want him to be able to run/walk safely and he doesn't do super well in sandals yet.

@Foodnerd81: Yes, that's my problem!

@Mrs. Pickle: My mom says it's still cold in the morning and evening so I think that is throwing me off. But I can definitely do summer clothes with a jacket.

I know this is a dumb question, but it's freezing cold here and I can't even conceptualize 80 degrees right now! We are visiting my parents in north Texas starting tomorrow. It's supposed to be around 80 this weekend and I don't know what to pack for my kids!

Short sleeves, but long pants? They surely wouldn't need shorts, right? Are tights under dresses ok for a high of 80? Is it warm enough to wear Natives, or do they need socks and shoes? Someone help me figure this out before I pack all of the clothes in our house!
