@Smurfette: Good point. I'll put the bath stuff on the list!

@travellingbee: Oh hmm! I wouldn't have thought to pack the nose frida, but guess it wouldn't hurt to have it just in case!

@mewtill: Yep! On my instructions I'm leaving them, I'm including the dosage of Tylenol and how often! And good idea about the extra pacifier - I should pack at least two!

Yes, pack whatever nose sucker you use! And attach a dosage chart to the Tylenol, so they don't have to guess if they need it. The only other thing I'd pack is extra pacifiers, but I don't know if X uses those.
I always overpack clothes! The worst that can happen is you come back with clean, unused clothes, right?

@travellingbee: We didn't used to pack the nose frida, and one weekend he desperately needed it and I couldn't find it anywhere, so I ended up having to use a regular bulb and it was terrible. So now I always take it when we travel.

Looks a lot like our list. We didn't bring tylenol and nose frida/saline but had to buy in NY because he ended up getting stuffy while we were there and had trouble sleeping. Might want to throw in that sort of thing, just in case.

@Adira: I always over pack. I would have 3 outfits for each day and an extra sleeper for each night as well.

I would bring bath stuff since he will have sunscreen on. My pediatrician said if you use sunscreen prior to 6 months to make sure to give them a bath that night.

Otherwise your list looks great!

@Adira: Sounds good to me, we used baby towels for a long time because we had them, but I don't pack them for trips. The only thing I would consider is that if they are putting on sunscreen and bringing him into the lake, you might want to wash him off afterwards, and a bath might be easier.

@looch: I wasn't going to provide bath stuff because we don't give him a bath everyday, so we were just going to give him one tonight and then we'll give him one on Sunday ourselves. And I figure if they need to wash him at all, they can use their own washcloths and just use water without soap. Does that seem okay?

@Adira: The grandparents will probably only change him as much as necessary. If the weather is good, he might be in just a diaper. Common house hold items can be great toys so just an activity mat should be plenty. I'm just trying to think about bulk because I ty to pack light and stull manage to pack too much. And you aren't crazy ;) Just cautious.

I would include a thermometer and Tylenol - just in case as well as a burp cloth or 2, but I think you've the essentials covered. I'd be so excited and also so nervous to leave DS for 2 days at 5 months!

Edit - whoops I missed that you already listed the burp cloths! Sorry!

@NaturallyCathy: haha, no, that's totally cool! Maybe I'll just bring the activity mat (which already has stuff attached) and the books. The books are actually for his bedtime routine - not actual toys.

As for diapers, I'm sure he doesn't really need that many - I was just going to bring a package. It's hard to judge how many he really needs, because some days he goes through as little as six diapers, and sometimes it's double that! I want to make sure they have enough, just in case. Plus I'm going to be there all day Friday, so I'll need some for then too.

As far as clothes go - I figure more is better, right? I'm mostly concerned about blow-outs. He usually goes through at least two outfits at daycare, plus a sleeper for night. But I also wanted to include a couple extra sleepers in case it's cool during the day. Maybe I'm just being crazy?

Take this as my 2 cents and feel free to throw it out but I think you're including too much clothes/diapers/toys. Babies surprisigly need very little especially for two days.
