My supply took a hit around 10 months and I just made a point of pumping more at work. DS started getting really active and mobile around then and he was just too distracted to nurse much, so I tried to BF in a quiet location with dim light so there weren't too many other distractions. And 5 times a day sounds about normal for that age too. Hang in there mama!
ETA DS is now 15 months and LOVES to nurse still!

I think this is pretty normal for this age, unfortunately. 5 times a day is also pretty standard and I think I had even dropped down to 4 times a day at this point with my first. Plus they are learning so many new things, they just don't want to spend their time nursing! It's normal. I just tried to push through it. <3

My son started doing this at 9.5 months - he would turn his head and refuse. If I pressed on, he would start to get upset and cry. He kept nursing at night and I just pumped twice a day from then on - I work full time and wasn't going to pump constantly to keep up.
Eventually I stopped pumping during the day and nursed at night until he started refusing night time too. (11 months)

My son weaned at 10 months because stuff like this. I didn't really want to EP so, I just let him wean. The morning and night time feedings were the last to go. He LOVED regular milk so I wasn't too worried about it.

As @Mrs.Someone: said, pretty normal. At 9 months breastfeeding was extremely frustrating. He was just very busy and resented (for lack of a better word) me trying to force him to do it. I ended up predominately pumping and we would give him a bottle over the course of the evening (WOHM so that was the only really relevant time) because it stressed me out so much.

Does she take a bottle? Could it be that she wants the milk flow faster? Or maybe it has to do with teething?

I agree with above-- if you want to continue BFing then I'd just keep offering and pump. But, if you think she is thriving and are ok with switching over to formula, then I say do what gives you peace of mind :)

I think there is a big nursing strike typical around this age; if you want to continue to BF I'd def keep offering or try to pump on the side to keep up.

My supply got pretty low after 6 mo so I weaned right around 9-10 months since she was no longer interested anyway.

My LO is just shy of 9 months and breastfeeding isn't going well. She is impatient and often hysterical for nearly every session. Right now she is only nursing 5 times a day (MITN, wake up, nap 1, nap2, bed). Often these sessions are only one side or with lots of popping on and off (I often feel I am "force feeding" her). There have been times that I try to feed her "on demand" when I'm met with flat refusal. Then a very short period later she eats a ton of solids. I feel like my supply is dropping. Does this sound like weaning? Is it possible to have a baby who "hates breastfeeding" ?
