It helps because I have had people decide to go in on a gift too and they nabbed one of the more expensive options. </p> <p>That being said, for a more casual friend from play group I am more likely to say something like "she just got a play kitchen but is stuck with our recycling bin contents right now and she loves being read to." I think it's partially feeling weird to tell people something specific to give as a gift, and partially I just don't know what to say. I end up like, "Oh, I don't know." And depending on the person and how well I know them, I might add, "just nothing princessy please!" (3 year old girl)</p> <p>What would you say? Anyone else never know what to say? </p>
