These responses are beautiful. I just needed to say that. Gods plan and love is so much bigger than we can fathom.

I agree with what everyone else has said. God has a plan for everyone. I have a friend going through infertility right now and after miscarrying twins the other day she said "I think God has a different plan for me. I think he wants us to adopt because that baby needs us more than our own would." God's plan isn't always our plan. He doesn't want us to hurt and suffer. He wants us to be happy. You are not a sinner because of something that was in His plan. God loves you.

Imo, if you're a good person then you're not a sinner. Fertile, infertile, gay, straight, bi, whatever. I think any relationship that puts out more love into this often scary world is a good thing. The only people who need to worry about their sins are murderers, people that beat their partners, people who steal, people who perpetuate hate, etc. Actual bad people!! So no, of course you're not a sinner!

Marriage is NOT about procreating
&
god loves us all.
That being said: I am so sorry about your fertility struggles. & congrats on the surrogacy!

the God I believe in is a loving God. I believe that your story is written just for you & you alone, your destiny.

@grizz: agree! there are so many stories of great mothers in the bible, whose faith & love were tested

Nuh-uh, don't even go there. Infertility is an health problem, same as any other and it doesn't mean that you shouldn't have happiness or are any less in God's eyes.

In my marriage prep book, there was a sentence that really stuck with me. It's that marriage is a way to show your partner every day what God's love is like. No mention of getting married so that we could have a baby. And as far as children went, the understanding was that we were to accept children IF they were to come.

@LovelyPlum: Totally agree.

God used women who could not conceive throughout the Bible to illustrate lessons on faith, resilience, trust in Him, and his perfect love. I'd say your struggles are very close to God's heart.

As I was meditating on just the other day, the Bible is FULL (I mean FULL) of women who were barren and then gave birth. Struggling with infertility does not make anyone less a child of God.

@Weagle: this! Very well said.

Peace and blessings to you :)

Personally, I believe that God loves us all. I saw this article today and it has some great points:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/derek-flood/jesus-homosexuality_b_1442195.html

I like this quote from the article, "I think there is one thing we can be sure of -- Jesus loves every one of us. In fact Jesus was especially known for loving the very people that the religious people of his time had condemned and cast out."

Best wishes that your baby is born healthy and happy!

A purpose of marriage is procreation, but it's not THE purpose. God isn't surprised by you not being able to become a parent the most common way. And it was his will for you and your husband to marry, because it happened. Nothing happens outside of the realm of God's loving and faithful purposes.

That's exactly why I think that argument against gay marriage is ridiculous. Not every family is created the same way. I think it is beautiful that you are able to find a way to create your family and I believe God is happy about that as well. Congratulations!

I'm catholic and when we were going through marriage preparation, this question was brought up. The explanation given was that no, you're not sinners for entering into a marriage where procreation was not possible (unless it's because you had your tubes tied or he had a vasectomy... The Catholic church frowns upon that). They spoke of infertility (which is a completely different story than homosexuality) as being God's will and that we needed to trust God's plan for us.

Today has been a hard day for me. Most of my friends (On Facebook) are pro gay marriage. But some say that the purpose of male/female marriage is to procreate, and that's why gay marriage isn't right.

So what about me? I'm a woman, married to a man, and my body simply can't support a pregnancy. A wonderful woman is carrying our baby. But are we sinners for entering into marriage without being able to conceive naturally?

I'd hope my God is more loving than that.

Thoughts?
