I'm in Canada too (BC) and we got a pack of diapers and they gave us a hat that some ladies had knitted for the hospital. They just wrapped her in a blanket though, no clothes.

@Crumbs: They didn't provide diapers, but I did notice that they had some kicking around in secret places. The one thing I wasn't expecting was how long I'd be in the hospital. I thought maybe 1 or 2 days, but my baby was born on a Tuesday night, and we didn't go home until Friday night. (Natural birth, no complications). I had foolishly packed like 6 diapers and 2 outfits for the baby. Had to send DH home to get a full pack of diapers and several outfits (boy peed on his top almost every time I changed him until I got smart about that). People tell me that in 'the big city' they make you go home much sooner, but in my small town they 'keep the babies in the hospital until they are ready for kindergarten'. :) I was so glad that they kept me for 4 days....really gave me a chance to focus on learning to breastfeed and to just relax and focus on baby.

no clothes at my hospital (Canada)
They have some diapers kicking around if you are in a pinch, but otherwise it's up to you. After the first bath they just asked me 'where are his clothes' and I dressed him.
Honestly, looking back on it, I wish I would have kept him longer in just a diaper so we could do more skin to skin time.
