@yoursilverlining: thanks for the information! I think i have been designing around the bed in a bad way and I just need to embrace the style and add mission style nightstands.

I actually love the revolving bookshelves, I am looking into them for my son's room!

@looch: We also have a mission style Queen in our guestroom and have this nightstand which I love. It's really lovely in person, and we keep a selection of books on the bottom shelf. It's not too big either, in case space is limited. We have 1 on either side of the bed. http://www.wolffurniture.com/furniture/night-stand/night-stand/1285419844

For our bed we actually have revolving bookcases for nightstands. I want to say they are Ralph Lauren, but I don't remember. I didn't pick them out (DH and MIL did) and I don't love them. Meh, they are ok. Our bedroom is very large so they wanted large nightstands to balance everything out. They look like this, but I can't remember where they found them.

Right now, we have a queen bed that looks like an antique 4 post bed. In a few months, we're planning to upgrade to a king, maybe a cherry sleigh bed or panel bed.

@yoursilverlining: what do you have for nightstands? We have a mission style bed in the guest room and I am struggling!

Our bed is a mahogany sleigh bed. It's made very simply, just with a fitted/flat sheet set and then a fleece blanket on top. My mom's trick is to use a king sized flat sheet and blanket on a queen sized bed, keeps everyone happier to have more sheet/blanket.

@LindsayInNY: Instead of one flat sheet the bed is made with two. The extra warmth makes the bed cozy for me while it doesn't add too much warmth so my husband is fine with a middle ground room temp.

We have a king bed, on a plain old frame. A king JUST fits in our bedroom, there is absolutely no room for a head or foot board. We've got a pretty plain duvet cover on it and 2 decorative pillows. We stayed in a hotel in Miami with a pillow top something or other on top and felt like we were sleeping on a cloud. Would love to invest in one of those badboys.

Ours is a king size cherry mission style bed. We have several other mission style pieces and like the clean lines, so it works. Feather down comforter is on most of the time. Very similar to these I grabbed off google.

@redeyedtreefr0g: two flat sheets & the coverlet, but a heavier blanket or comforter would likely work the same. Our headboard is leather, in a wood, nail head frame. I liked it when we first got it, but the padded headboards in curved shapes are so much more interesting to me now.

Is it two flat sheets and that's all?

I can't stand the air to "touch me" so I have to have something heavier to block fan swirlies. Depending on temperature, hubby may stay under the covers or he might end up out of them, you never know!

The beagle gets hot and even though he wants under the covers, he never stays there if we are in the bed. Or that could be because it's not a King anymore.

I sleep naked now more often than not, apparently Mr. Frog really likes me that way :P
And we have no headboard or footboard.

He wants one of those that is padded covered in cloth, but maybe not with the buttons all poked in it. I have to get him to explain exactly so I can make it for us.

@ladybee: @simplyfelicity: now, don't get me wrong I still sleep in PJs bottoms. The fan is on the middle setting vs the highest setting, which kept me up because it was so loud not to mention cold. The A/C is now set at 76/77 and not 74/75.

Our bed looks like work! LOL. We have two euro pillows that are heavy and an extra long bolster pillow that have to be removed before we get into the bed. The bolster is made out of the same metalic stripe fabric as our drapes.

Our coverlet matches the pale blue wall color, but I am looking for something else so to bring out the metalics in the room instead. Our sheets are dark gray to hide hair product stains. Eww gross, I know-but gotta hide the grays!

We use two top sheets because I read in a magazine that the Westin does it and my goodness that small change improved our sleep. Before we would fight over the A/C, the fan speed, and I normally would lose and have to bring in an extra blanket.

We have four sleeping pillows because I recently bought two more of the same ones we had previously. They are the squishy, hypo allergenic ones. Half the time a pillow will fall to the ground at some point in the night or 1 or 2 can be found in the family room for days on end. Hey it's better than using our decorative couch pillows as sleeping pillows.

Well I can't seem to find a photo online but a few years back, DH bought the most gorgeous grey/blue silken duvet with peacock feathers embroidered on it, so that's what we have on our king sized bed with a regular old metal frame & no headborad. We both have bed side tables. The sheets are blue & the duvet is actually too warm for us to sleep comfortably under so we have a flat sheet & a $25 fuzzy Walmart blanket that we actually sleep with. As far as pillows, we just each have the ones we sleep with plus two king sized pillows with shams that match the bedding. Super simple. It could be pretty in our room but instead it looks kind of unfinished. ...

Ours is boring - an ikea frame. LO bed shares with us and when she was first learning how to walk she loved "climbing up the headboard " (they are horizontal bars)
The sheets are random and don't match the blanket but they're cozy. Pillows are down. No nightstands - there are pillows on one side of the bed in case LO falls off (she's never alone though that's just paranoia) and the other side is against a wall

Hello hive!

What does your bed look like?

I've just finished remaking my bed, and I was admiring the gorgeous king-size quilt my grandmother made for Mr. Frog and I. She makes one for every stable couple in the family, quilting is her hobby.

Our current bed is a queen, but we really need a king to be truly comfortable. Mr. Frog tends to sprawl, and we share with our beagle Grunt, who is just like his daddy.

Our quilt pattern is titled "Cosmos". It is a black quilt, with blocks of color in pairs that overlap diagonally. The blocks start with light color in the middle and gets darker to the edges, so they look like they glow. There are 5 shades/patterns for each color, and our blocks are blue and red, green and purple. The black is I think a true flat black (not usual for grandma, she hates plain), but with the color blocks it is very well balanced. The whole thing is quilted with rainbow thread.

The sheets underneath don't match, they were just so silky soft that we've stolen them from Grandad's linen closet. We may or may not keep them when we move out of his house :P

We have 3 pillows. 2 for Mr.Frog, 1 for me. Our Jack Russel died a year and a half ago, so I no longer have him to cuddle/hug and instead have a big floppy frog.

Our bed is actually raised a bit courtesy of a 1x4 wooden frame added between the bed frame and the box spring. Mr.Frog likes to have an arm straight out under my pillow, and kept whacking his hand on the night stands. Now the bed is slightly taller :)
