First I'd cut out the nursing after meals and then replace the morning and afternoon session with snacks.

At 19 months we nurse a couple time a day and sometimes more on the weekends. He does fine at daycare with just WCM. At 12 months when he started daycare he still hadn't dropped all his daytime sessions.

Idk if you're interested in nursing past a year, but for us, even though I stopped pumping at work, he still nurses on demand when we are together. He's 20m and I stopped pumping around 10.5m. If you wanted to still nurse past a year, you could hand express until you're comfortable through the transition period, then you wouldn't have to drag your pump back to work.

I'm gonna follow this, too. M is only 7.5 months, but I'm gonna start the weaning process somewhere around 10-11 months. I hope you figure out a good routine you can share!

We were on a similar schedule at the same age. I began by not offering before or after meals. Then started feeding her a real food snack at 10 & 3 & eventually just stopped offering milk then as well. We still nursing occasionally in the MOTN if she is wakes up insisting (rare), when she was up for the day & right before bed. All the sessions are short but she asks &I have no reason to tell her no. She took really well to cutting out the day sessions. She's 14 months.

My daughter nursed much less at one year than at nine months. By a year she was only nursing 4 times/day (am, before each nap, and before bed). I stopped pumping after a year and it was no problem. She nursed 3-4 times/day when I was home all day and am/before bed when I wasn't with no problem. I just send her to daycare with a straw cup with water (dairy allergy so no milk).

We had to drop all but 1 feed super quickly (went from 5-7 sessions a day to one within about a month, right around 1, due to a weight loss issue.) I just did "don't offer, don't refuse," but with serious distraction techniques. Any time we would have normally nursed, I just did something SUPER FUN like stickers or something instead. It really only took about a week to drop to one session. He was old enough for WCM at the time, and once I dropped nursing sessions, he started really drinking WCM (he had previously refused.)

Good luck!

with my super frequent nurser, I went back to work around a year, and she was totally fine with no pumped bm at daycare, and she nursed a lot in the mornings and evenings. At 16 months she still does. I find that she nurses a lot when I am around, but she doesn't need to nurse when I am not around. She didn't take to a straw or sippy for a long time, but daycare would give her spoonfuls of water, and she would drink out of a regular cup that someone was holding.

LO is 21 months and we still nurse 4 times a day (morning, 2 times in the day, and bedtime) so i get that this isn't the same situation but we cut three sessions in three months. We were having trouble getting LO to eat a good volume of food and the ped wanted her to put on some weight. We were still nursing 7 times a day at 16 months and by 20 we were down to 4. You might try cutting those short sessions at mealtime to encourage more solids. For us LO was really filling up on breastmilk and while she liked food, she just wasn't hungry ay mealtime. I cut nursing right before meals and really pumped up constant availability of snacks throughout the day. Cutting a few sessions should get him more interested in drinking out of a cup too. Good luck!

Have you just tried a regular cup? You'll obviously need to help, but we had much better luck getting him to just drink from a regular cup. Then he was able to figure out a sippy later.

I have to have T day weaned by 1 year. I go back to work shortly after his first birthday and will not pump again. It's hard for me to imagine to cut out SO many feedings in 3 months though.
Here's our schedule:

5am wake up - Nurse (both sides)
7am - Breakfast and nurse afterwards (very short session)
10am - nurse
12pm - lunch and nurse afterwards (again very short)
2 or 3pm - nurse
5pm - Dinner
5:30pm- bedtime routine which involves nursing
6pm - asleep
May or may not wake up around 2:30am. May or may not nurse if he wakes up.

It will help to introduce a sippy or straw cup but I haven't had any luck in getting him interested in it.

ETA: I would like to continue nursing him morning and night if possible until he's 2 or self weans.

ETA: changed the title of the post to make more sense. Lol
