RJ has always been really independent, so he did well in exersaucers, jumperoos, and pack n plays while I took care of things around the house. We had a regular schedule when I was a SAHM which included upright time (exersaucer/jumperoo) right after each meal/feeding, so that allowed me the time to clean up from the meal and do dishes, and prep the next meal. Everything else I'd do while he slept. vacuuming was relegated to weekends while one of us distracted him.

A cleaning service has totally changed my life.

Usually she's having tummy time on the floor with toys... she army crawls around a little... Or she's in her high chair with some toys. when big sis is around, she will entertain her a little. mostly though, she watches her big sis play (she's very good at entertaining herself). Sometimes I'll put her in a carrier and she'll fall asleep so I'll declutter or go through the mail... or prep some food.

@owlmom: I used to put my lo in the carrier too, I loved that, but having so much weight on my shoulders gives me migraines.

My lo is such a light sleeper, I have to be extra quiet when she naps. I'm jealous of you mommy's that get stuff done during nap time!

Sometimes I do housework when she's sleeping. My LO plays well by herself so I let her crawl around while I do dishes, cook, etc. When I'm doing laundry downstairs I'll put her in her pack&play.

I only do housework when LO is napping, which isn't too bad. She can nap for up to 2.5 hours so it gives me time to get things done around the house.

So far I've been able to wear her while doing chores, or she's been content in her bouncy seat when I do something that requires a lot of bending over, like emptying the dishwasher. But LO is only 12 weeks old. I'm guessing as she gets heavier and mobile, this method won't work anymore.

I have to wait and do it when my son is napping or when my husband is home so he can entertain/take care of him.

I always hear of mothers putting their LO in a bouncer while they do their housework. My LO would go nuts if I did that. She has to be entertained all the time. Sometimes I can give her a toy and that will keep her attention for a few minutes, but usually I'm at her side singing to her and entertaining her while I'm getting the work done. Doesn't make it easy!

How do you entertain your LO while trying to get stuff done around the house?
