Our LO isn't here yet, but we have a huge unused room that only has our pool table, our kegerator, and a tv in it currently, so we plan on utilizing that as a play room when the time comes. All play rooms should have a kegerator, right? :)

But really, I am excited about the fact that we can have a huge chalkboard wall, an indoor playhouse and a big arts/crafts area once we get around to it. It is closed off by barn doors currently and has it's own bathroom and access to the outside, so it's pretty perfect.

Here I am answering your question!!

We are lucky that the LO does have a dedicated playroom so that there are no toys anywhere else in the house (hooray, for a neat freak like me).

We have a craft/drawing table, play kitchen, toy organizer, mini piano, mini slide, trike, sensory box, ball pit, bookshelf, and LO's little chair in there. I don't have too much on the walls yet since we've always been planning on remodeling but for now I have some large flashcards I've stuck on the wall plus a stick on car ramp that is pretty cool. It's not a fancy room but it is all for the LO which is nice.

Not sure what else I want in there....maybe an easel for painting next?

PS - our entire basement is full of Legos. DH has a Lego town. LOL.

We don't have a playroom either. Some of his toys are in the living room and some in the dining room. My project this summer is to turn our shed into a playroom for them.

Our living area is L-shaped, so we sectioned off one of the legs into a play area. That's where LO and I spend most of the day when we're home. This way he's not enticed by all the electronics in the adult living room. Now that he's about to crawl/walk I need to find a really big baby gate or something to keep him contained when I step away...

We do have a play room. We just moved into a house that has a large enclosed patio and it belongs to them. We do have an old table out there that I used to do crafts at with my grandma and now every day me and the kids do at least one craft out there. The room is definetly a mess most of the time but we are working on making it just right for us. I have been thinking about a chalkboard wall but a Lego wall sounds cool too. I might have to make space for that too

I never had a "play room" growing up, unless you count my bedroom. It'll probably be the same for my kids too. We don't have enough rooms to dedicate to them for playing.

@mrs. wagon: Play kitchen in the kitchen is such a great idea! Hopefully LO will be getting a play kitchen for her first birthday, and I have the perfect place for it in the kitchen!

You mean other than messy? We've got a play "corner" in our family room that has a cubby system w/ 9 cubbies, fabric bins, books, etc. Next to that is a play kitchen and next to that is her doll stroller and play shopping cart.
In the basement we have a tent thing set up and some of her bigger toys like the ride on scooter/walker thing and her activity table.
Eventually I'd like to get everything in the basement and have the family room back. I'd love to have an easel down there and a play table that has storage but we only moved in in August so we've got a ways to go. It will need a couch too I think. I like the idea of putting the "crappy" furniture down there so it doesn't matter if it gets messy!

Half of our living room is a play area. It's basically just toys thrown in there with foam tiles on the ground. We've also got a play kitchen in the kitchen. I like for RJ to be able to play wherever I need to be at the time so I can keep an eye on him.

We've also converted our finished basement into a playroom, but it will have to double as a guest room soon. We've got couches and a tv down there, and there's a foosball table, and there will soon be a bed. We've put in some toy storage and a big tent with a crawl tunnel. I don't imagine a chalkboard wall or anything like that (crafts happen at school!! or, when the kids get older, in the kitchen where everything is hardwood. or outside!!) since I am so anal when it comes to messes.

I'm bumping this cause I'd love to hear more. We rent a small 1500 sq ft townhouse right now so there is no play room and probably won't be until we own a home, but I would love to have one and I agree - a lego and chalkboard wall would be fantastic!
I love this one - http://pinterest.com/pin/284430532685665767/

When I was growing up, my parents turned our living room into our play room. They just had an old couch and table in there, and everything was crappy so we could do whatever we wanted. We ended up getting glue, glitter, paint, etc. everywhere.

We don't have room for a playroom here, but if we did I'm sure chalkboard paint would be involved, and a lego wall. Maybe we'll just have to incorporate these things into LO's room when she's older.
