Thanks to all of you for your great feedback. It sounds like there is quite a range, and that makes me feel better about just continuing at the pace we are doing. I was primarily doubting myself on variety and whether we were failing at exposing him to enough foods. Daycare does a great job of continuing foods once we've introduced them. He is an independent eater and is starting to refuse most assistance with eating, short of us getting him started on a pouch.
Thanks again!

I recently started making the mini muffins in the baby led weaning blog post from a week or two ago, they're great! My LO has very slowly started getting closer to table foods, but it's a very slow process. The muffins are great because of the consistency, but they also have chicken etc...

LO eats just about everything we eat. I avoid giving her chewy or tough foods, but for the most part if it's on my plate it's on hers as well. She's been on table foods since eight months.

At 10 months we are exclusively on table food, but LO has 8 teeth that he chews with pretty well and completely rejected being fed with a spoon around 9 months. I say do what works for your family. If LO still would eat purees, I would still be giving them to him.

i don't see anything wrong with what he eats.

by that age my LO was refusing to be spoon fed, so was eating all finger foods. scrambled eggs, toast fingers, steamed vegetables (carrot sticks, zucchini, parsnip, peas etc), fruit (apples, banana, peaches, watermelon, strawberries, kiwifruit...), cheese, rice, pasta... things like that. pretty much anything that I ate, he would too.

as long as you're happy with what and how much he's eating, doesn't matter what anyone else does/thinks!

I think you should go with what feels right for you.

My 10 mo DD eats pretty much everything. Breakfast is usually baby oatmeal and fruit. Lunch is some sort of vegetable purée if she is with our nanny, or a pouch or something from my plate on weekends. For dinner she gets leftovers or something from my plate. She loves beans, grilled chicken, any type of pork, pieces of vegetable, cheese, strained beans/meat/grains/vegetables from soup. She will eat most anything, but seems to really prefer things that have been seasoned/spices for my palate. She would also eat her weight in Cheerios if I let her.

Are you worried about the variety or quantity? It looks like you've tried a ton of different things. At 10 months we were doing what you were doing.

I can't figure out if we are where we should be for getting foods into our baby or a bit behind. As with everything else, everyone has opinions about this and is open to sharing them. A friend with a baby a few months older seems to think that we are not giving enough foods at this point.
He's had fresh fruits, homemade purees, pouches, baby wafers, puffs, and a few prepared foods (rice, black beans, bits of quesadilla, little bits of chicken, tiny pieces of ground beef, cheese, muffin, scones, bread, & yogurt).

Anything else we should add? Are we way behind, like everyone seems to think? (Our doctor is pretty laid back regarding foods and just suggested doing a variety of textures.)

Thanks for your input!
