@MrsBananaGrabber: The only thing I would MAYBE keep a duplicate of is Sophie. My LO was not a huge Sophie kid, but some are, and you might like to have an alternate in case Sophie #1 is misplaced.

If you didn't get a lot of the essentials though, I'd rather return the expensive teether and exchange it for things like swaddlers, bottles, what have you! You can always get another one if you need it later... babies also don't use a teether until they are like 3-4 months old at the earliest.

Definitely don't need two of the other things. Especially the play gym.

@nana87: I was going to ask the same question! Our dog hasn't shown an interest in Sophie, but several friends have gone through multiple Sophies for this reason.

I'd return the other duplicates, though. DS (8 months) has all three and loves/loved all of them, but not enough to necessitate duplicates.

I'd return the extra gym, and keep the tunes and Sophies to re-gift or in case your LO ends up really liking one of them (my LO loved the tunes but broke it, so it would have been nice to have another. She didn't like Sophie though).

I would keep none of the duplicates. Even for those items that pp use 2 of, your baby might not take to it so better to return now and use the $/credit for other things you need and have to purchase again down the road than have 2 of something you don't use lying around.

@Ree723: I agree. I don't know of anyone who bought the Sophie that said their kids absolutely loved it lol. All three of my kids don't seem to care about it.

I'd either return all the duplicates or regift them. We actually have all the toys listed. One of my kids absolutely loved the take along toy, but I agree, it's portable so u don't need more than one. None of my kids really cared about Sophie. Although, now at three, my son likes to squeeze it for the baby lol. My kids enjoyed the kick piano thingamajig, but not worth having two. We also had the rainforest kick gym thing too, tho.

@MrsBananaGrabber: I've had my fair share of people not knowing how to use registries. But on their defense sometimes it's the stores fault. There were a few things toy r us didn't take off even when people told them too. Conveniently it was the more expensive items which meant I got less rewards.

I would return them all. And I agree with the other posters, a lot of times duplicates are not the purchasers' fault. Stores frequently mess up and don't remove things from registries after they are bought.

@MrsBananaGrabber: Just an FYI, sometimes daycare toys/books are different then home books. For example, even the chunky board books daycare had to remove from the room because the babies were chewing on them so much they had chunks coming off. They have resorted to all plastic and fabric books now (besides the ones the teachers just hold to read). Also for toys, they have to be careful about what they can play with. I know daycares like bouncy seats and bumbos.

I would for sure return the play mat. The take along tunes is cute, but you may want a different toy/rattle for variety.

@MrsBananaGrabber: Duplicates on registry purchases is very common - Target is notorious for having issues with their registries and we had issues with our BRU with it not being updated correctly when people purchased - it's usually not the purchaser's fault, but a system issue.

I'd return all of them - my daughter was not really into Sophie for more than a few days.

Return them all! There are only so many playmats a baby can use, the take away tunes is great but as it's so portable, there is no reason to have more than one, and three Sophies are totally unnecessary. If you have a baby that actually likes Sophie (do any babies? It seems it's one of those things everyone gets but no baby ever seems to love it?!) you can always buy another if it gets lost or damaged.

@MrsBananaGrabber: That's actually pretty common, to get multiples of things, even with a registry. It doesn't always update correctly, of no fault of the purchaser.

I think we also had 3 Sophies, I don't know how it happened, but my son wasn't interested at all. One thing you could do is keep them for gifts on hand, just in case...that's what I did!

Sounds like we'll have a lot of returning to do. It's crazy how some people just don't know how to use registries. We even had 3 people get us the exact same set of towels, which were on our registry, and NONE of them marked them as purchased. If you're not going to buy from the registry, why not at least look at it first to see if someone else already bought the gift?
