After 2 microfiber couch sets (I can't stand how hot they get in the summer) I finally have my top grain leather sectional! Used off of Craigslist :)

We got ours from C&B and paid extra to have it custom made so it would be slip covered and therefore, washable. It's been puked on several times so it was worth the money.

Leather in our family room. It's so easy to clean and is holding up so well. We got it from a local store. In the living room it's an Ektorp couch from Ikea with a cover they no longer sell. It's more textured then their usual selection. It's light, but holding up pretty well.

@Foodnerd81: +1 my thoughts exactly!

We have a cheap leather sofa and a good quality leather Lazy-boy in our living room. I much prefer fabric sofas, but when we buy a new couch we'll buy leather again, I love how easy it is to clean!

Some cheap washable fabric (cotton?) from Ikea. No kids yet, but they sure got messy with dogs. So we just alternate between a blue and ivory color. When one gets dirty, we wash it and meanwhile put the clean one on. It works for us. (It's the Ikea Ektorp, very not exciting.)

We have leather sofas. My husband and I both remark all the time on what a life saver it is with a toddler bc it doesn't stain and everything wipes off.

We actually got an upholstered sleeper sofa for our office from PB and it's light gray, and I shudder every time LO goes near it. It's nice not to worry about the ones in the Great Room, where she spends a lot of her time with juice and snacks...

If I was buying I'd get wool or wool blend. I have a mid century modern from the 50s with an insanely tough woven poly. It is much better than it sounds. Not a fan of microfiber personally.

Ours is Ikea dark brown fake leather. It's held up super well! No sagging and spills/food wipe right off. We actually bought it used on Craigslist, and we've had it 4 more years and it still looks great for what we paid.

One's microfiber and the other is more cloth like. I sprayed them both down with scotchguard and it's held up well so far. Through the numerous infant vomits and bottle spills.

I don't know exactly what you'd call it, but it's a kind of a textured/woven tan and charcoal. It's from Ethan Allen and, while I've had some other issues with this particular couch (back cushions sagging), the fabric has been awesome.

Chocolate brown leather which like @PinkElephant says is really easy to clean. I wasn't excited about it at first and sometimes I think it's too slick (I'm constantly having to readjust my posture), but my hubby convinced me.

Full leather (not bonded on the sides or back like a lot of cheaper leather sofas). Holds up awesome with kids and pets. We have 3 leather pieces (sofa, oversized love seat and easy chair + ottoman), from Pottery Barn, and two local furniture shops.

Ours is a Grey Corduroy type material. Hides stains like no other and we have had it for about 3.5 years. It was a cheaper one from Ashleys furniture too. Def love the material.

Fake microfiber. American Freight. It isn't holding up great to kids (we don't have ours yet, but my nieces are messy!) but it was $500 for a couch/loveseat set delivered so I don't fret over spilled applesauce. It was purchased with the thought of slipcovering or replacing it when kiddos were older.

Leather- probably real but cheap quality leather? Dh bought it before we lived together. It's held up pretty well and is awesome for wiping away baby messes or dog fur. We will probably go with leather again when we replace these just for the mess, even though I do prefer fabric.
