@Mae: Do you have a standmixer? You can mix up the ground meat and ingredients in the standmixer and then scoop the meatballs with an ice cream scoop like you would cookie dough (or just use 2 spoons). The nice thing about meatballs is you can just make a huge batch, bake them off, and then freeze them. Then its just a matter of thawing or simmering or microwaving one or two for a meal.

@Mae: I've found ONE kind of prepared meatballs with no dairy or soy! They are the Aidell's brand carmelized onion flavor.--they are organic, too. They are in my grocery's refrigerated section, not frozen. https://aidells.com/product/14033

I hear you, C is a great eater but I feel like she eats the same stuff over and over.

Her staples would be: ancient grain Cheerios, yogurt, berries, grapes, chicken, crackers, cheese, avocado, apples, bananas, cucumber, peppers, bread, scrambled eggs, peas, meatballs, pasta, rice, veggie straws & hummus

We eat at my parents at least once a week and that's been helpful because they make things I wouldn't normally make ... Tonight we were there and she had pork chops, lobster and a tossed salad and ate the whole thing. I need to get better at expanding our horizons at home!

Alice likes fruit, yogurt, and avocado. Everything else is sort of iffy with her. Sometimes she'll put a couple bites of fish in her mouth, but generally she refuses most meat. She'll eat peas and bell peppers and suffer through green beans, but veggies are just not her thing.

Blake eats everything. And a lot of it! He's started eating an entire tilapia fillet in one sitting. Like he just shovels it in. Other meat is still hit or miss. I think it's a textural issue. I'm weird about food textures, so maybe they have a bit of that. Hopefully they outgrow it! Maybe I should try meatballs too. They may like the mushy texture and that they can pick them up with their hands.

Thank you everyone for your replies, this is helpful!!

@gingerbebe: I should try making my own meatballs. I really hate cooking with raw meat so I don't much, but I have been wondering lately if she would eat meatballs! All the prepare ones I've found have soy and/or dairy in them though. Stupid soy flour, why do they do that?

Breakfast usually includes yogurt and always includes fruit. The rotating "main" is cereal, toast or a pancake.

Lunch is often grilled cheese, PB and J, or pasta. Plus cut up cucumber or other veggie and an organic fruit/veggie pouch or apple sauce. Plus milk.

Dinner is whatever we eat plus yogurt. Tonight we had hamburger which DS wouldn't touch (he's sick). So he had cheese, cucumber, yellow pepper, yogurt.

Snacks are: banana, berries, fish crackers, granola bars, ect.

He probably has strawberries, cucumber and cheese every day.

Eta: he has 4 ounces when he wakes up, 4 with lunch and 6ish before bed of WCM.

DS is 9 months and right now he's really into rice so we mix it with and into everything. He doesn't eat a lot so we also put fat in everything. So we make pilaf with basmati rice, pasta, shredded carrots, chickpeas, shredded carrot, broth, butter, and olive oil.

Hardboiled egg. Miso soup with tofu, zucchini, and potato mashed up with rice. Ground turkey or beef fried rice with mixed frozen veggies and an egg scrambled into it. Hummus and pita bread. Rice cake or puffs smeared with peanut or almond butter. Costco sells this pasta salad with rotisserie chicken and roasted red pepper pesto that doesn't have cheese and it's really tasty - DS likes it and I think it would be easy to replicate. I sometimes soak black olives in water overnight to leech the salt and give those to him to eat with his meals too.

Maybe little meatballs made with chicken, turkey, or beef? Italian wedding soup might be good since you mix in meat balls, veggies, pasta, and broth. Pork tenderloin is really soft and mild.

Breakfast is usually blueberries and toast, sometimes with yogurt if she's especially hungry. Lunch is always protein + plants + extras, so we'll often do rolled up turkey plus fruits, or salami and olives and cucumbers, or black beans and tortillas and cheese. Snacks (of which there are many, because we love to snack) are tons of fruit depending on the season, veggies and humus, granola bars, crackers, chobani yogurt tubes, dried fruit, stuff like that. Dinners are whatever we're all having, which has been heavy on the meat lately since her father has stepped up his training.

My 3 (almost four noooooo) year old has gotten a little pickier lately - she seems to be really turning away from dairy products. She'll still eat yogurt in any form, but for a long time now she's been rejecting 'melted cheese'. She still likes feta, but no pizza with cheese, and she's hit or miss on solid cheddar these days. Ice cream is obviously not a problem. She's never cared for milk, so I think she may just not be that into dairy.

Waffles, cheese, yogurt (for ages it was frozen yogurt tubes), berries, hummus and crackers (or just hummus), peanut butter toast, bananas. She loves noodles and chunky soups, which usually have soft textures and are easy to eat.
Dip means she'll eat it (or just the dip), so we use a lot of hummus, ketchup, salad dressing, PB, etc.

D also has a long list of intolerances, so I've developed some staples that I can make in batches, freeze, and reheat.

Breakfast is usually a scrambled egg with spinach and some fruit (blueberries, pears, peaches, bananas, watermelon, mandarin oranges), or a banana blueberry pancake and a veggie pouch. I make my banana blueberry pancakes with quinoa flour since she can't have wheat and as a bonus it gives her some protein. I have also made varieties with broccoli and zuchinni in them and she liked them. I have plans to experiment with a sweet potato pancake too.

Lunch is usually a hard boiled egg or pouch with chia (although I am playing with making my own chia pudding for her) and then some diced fruits and cooked veggies. Usually some puffs as an appetizer.

Dinner is usually a quinoa/chicken meatball or slow cooked shredded chicken with some steamed asparagus or carrots or broccoli or sweet potato fries.

I try to do protein, fruit, and veggie with every meal. My biggest struggle is our limited protein sources with her. She can't do dairy or legumes and we haven't trialed nuts or fish or most meats yet. She has chicken, egg, hemp, chia, and quinoa that are safe. I plan to introduce sunbutter and shredded pork soon and hopefully that widens her choices. I also plan to use Dr. Pragers Spinach Littles (or homemade versions) after she is introduced to onion and arrowroot.

Another dipper here. I give her skinny strips of bell peppers and pita bread to dip, and usually she ends up just licking off the dip! We do hummus, either homemade or store bought, and white bean artichoke dip. I also sometimes just make up a dip by throwing some white beans and random veggies is the food processor.

@regberadaisy: @Mae: I second the dipping sauces. C will eat anything if she can dip it in ketchup. It's how I got her to start eating broccoli. Gross but effective. Now I have to remind her not to eat the ketchup with a fork.

Breakfast is either Cheerios with berries on top or toast and egg.

Lunch is a few of the following: yoghurt, deli meat, fruit, tomatoes, cucumbers, hummus, cheese string, crackers, Kraft dinner with hotdogs and soup.

Dinner she usually eats what we are having but is awfully picky with meats. She loves pasta. If she's not eating much, I'll give her a pouch.

Breakfast: some kind of bananas or blueberry waffles or pancakes. I usually make these with rolled oats and freeze the leftovers. Or scrambled eggs or steel cut oat(meal) with blueberries

Lunch is usually leftovers but if there isn't any I make her fish balls or noodle soup with homemade stock. Usually I have shrimp in the freezer.

Dinner: her favorites are fish (breaded and baked for tacos or steamed whole fish), shrimp, spaghetti with meat sauce, bone in pork chop, turkey stroganoff. Veg is usually roasted broccoli / cauliflower, sauté green beans, edamame, peas. She basically loves any and all carbs! These are dinner meals in heavy rotation that she loves the most! She also likes meat on the bone; ie pork chops and drumsticks.

Have you tried dipping sauces? My daughter doesn't love hamburgers but she will eat it when I give her ketchup to dip into. She will pretty much eat any meat or protein if I give her hoisin sauce to dip into.

. I also make smoothies with spinach or kale and freeze then into Popsicles.
I find she eats much better when everything is one bowl versus on a plate where everything is separated. I do not use compartments toddler ware because I feel they make it easier to be picky!

I just read a really interesting book called Its Not About Nutrition that talked about ways to introduce new foods to your kids. Lots of good tactics. I've been trying them with E and sometimes they work, sometimes they don't...

Taco meat? Ground turkey? Brats and hot dogs are sort of sausagey....rotisserie chicken is a big hit for us. They make almond and coconut milk yogurts....if she likes eggs, what about making them a different way?....pancakes instead of waffles? I made some apple cinnamon pancake bars that were a huge hit. We just did pulled pork that went over well (with ranch to dip into, but whatever). Our daycare lady makes those dr praegers broccoli patties that all the kids like....

Snacks are always cheese sticks or fruit. Meh. I try to do variety for meals but I don't really care about snacks

C is a pretty good eater and we don't have any dietary restrictions and I still feel like she's eating the same ten thugs over and over.

Breakfast is almost always plain yogurt, Cheerios or other cereal, and fruit.

For meats, she isn't a big fan and tends to prefer more processed than less, so I give her (limited) chicken nuggets, frozen meatballs, chicken sausage... She will usually eat homemade chicken cutlets if I have time to make them. All of these go down better when dipped in ketchup. She also likes hummus for protein.

Veggies- her favorites are frozen veggies. So frozen peas, mixed veggies, the cheesy broccoli boxes (loaded with preservatives I'm sure)... I try not to worry that it's all frozen since she's eating veggies at least.

I don't always offer carbs at meals since I feel like snacks are often very Carb centric.

And lots of dairy- cheese, especially. Mac and cheese. Yogurt. Cottage cheese. I don't know what she would eat with a dairy allergy, really. :(

Breakfast - Cheerios or pancakes.
Snacks - bananas, apples, grapes, yogurt, strawberries, oranges, fruit snacks, cheese

Lunch and dinner - whatever we eat - chicken, steak, ground meat, pork, rice, pasta, mashed cauliflower, sausage

I will say that DS1 is way picky now. Eating our dinner is usually a miss. It's offered but he usually refuses. So he often gets chicken tenders or cereal. Some nights he doesn't want anything or just fruit. It's frusterating, but I figure he has no weight issues and I know it'll pass.

DS2 literally eats anything we do. I'm enjoying this before his picky phase hits.

My LO has gotten more picky, but I just make sure I keep offering and sometimes she will eventually come around. She never likes new foods--I have to literally offer her something a dozen times before it becomes a favorite. But I make sure to keep making and offering.

And I also really try to follow the rule of, I make what I'm going to make and put it on her plate....and she decides what she'll eat. Some nights that means that I give her rotisserie chicken, brown rice, and broccoli, and she eats only the chicken and broccoli. Shrug. Her weight has been fine for a while now, so I don't stress about her self-imposed low carb meals although sometimes my husband does and wants to give her a backup food like a pouch--I generally discourage that because I think it conditions her to not try newer foods because she knows she'll get something else.

If all else fails and she's not eating anything, I break out the ketchup and let her dip her veggies or meats in that, which she likes. But I never start a meal with ketchup since it has added sugar.

Breakfast: eggs in many forms, dairy free breakfast sausage, steel cut oats, homemade butternut squash mini pancakes (I make in big portions and freeze in small ziplocks so I can thaw a few at a time)...they taste like regular pancakes, mini waffles, fruit, very occasionally coconut yogurt but she only likes the flavored ones which have a lot of sugar so I don't rely on these much....it's a very occasional treat with fruit.

Lunch and dinner:

Mains: butternut squash pasta (sauce is half butternut squash purée that I buy frozen and half jarred low sodium tomato sauce) with macaroni noodles and ground meat of some kind; rotisserie chicken, chicken or turkey sausages, TJs chicken burgers, oven seared salmon or white fish, dairy free fish sticks, in winter stuff like taco soup but not spicy.

Veggie sides: green beans, peas, broccoli, very small diced cooked carrots (she won't eat in larger form), sautéed zucchini and summer squash, random frozen veg mixes that are dairy free (like recently we tried a brown and wild rice with broccoli and carrots mix she liked), sweet potato fries and white potatoes oven fried or oven baked tossed in olive oil and garlic seasoning.

Snacks: bananas, frozen berries, fruit cups, fruit pouches, hummus and pita chips or Give Peas a Chance, graham crackers, veggie puffs

We really avoid all desserts at this point. She's had a dairy free bite of cake once, she disliked sorbet the once or twice I tried, and I don't give her dairy free cookies.

My almost 2 year old is a terrible eater! Some days she eats nothing at all, surviving on just milk, water and juice.

She loves peas and broccoli so she gets those most days - but they are the only veggies she will eat. She also loves ham sandwiches, frech fries, fish fingers and cake. These are the only foods she will eat!!

His breakfast is almost always: fruit, yogurt, a bread (french toast, raisin bread toast, cereal bar, muffin) VERY occasionally, eggs and/or sausage

His lunch box always contains: veggie/fruit pouch, fruit, cheese stick and either 1. PB&J 2. Chicken nuggets (trader joes) 3. Pasta
Often he has tomatoes, brocolli or peas too.

Dinner is whatever we are eating but he hasn't been eating well lately at dinner and mostly just wants fruit.

I don't have any great suggestions for you but I wanted to comment and say you're not alone! My LO eats pasta, any form of bread, most meats, most fruit and the only veggie she will touch is peas and sweet corn. I mean her diet is generally fine but I feel like it must be a little boring?

LO is on the white diet currently so crackers and biscuits are favourites, fries are ok, everything else is met with disdain. The list of foods she will eat gets shorter by the day.

I feel the same way, definitely not a lot of diversity and my daughter will finally eat some meats at almost 2 so I think that is just a texture thing :). As long as they are eating and are
Occasionally exposed to new foods that is all we can do :)

She likes lentil soup, pretzels, graham crackers, blue berries and grapes (all fruit, really), cheese. Peanut butter, banana, and honey sandwiches and Amy's broccoli pockets. I make eggs and toast every morning, but it is hit or miss. Greek yogurt is hit and miss. She loves all soup, rotisserie chicken, fresh sliced deli turkey, beets, carrots, broccoli, salmon, sushi, and veg tempura. She loves pizza.

String cheese has become a new favorite for her. Breakfast is almost always scrambled eggs, fruit and a Chobani Oats greek yogurt. Lunch varies but lately she's been really into quesadillas, I add some veggies in it. Dino nuggets, fish sticks, canned peas, green beans, kidney beans, peaches, and pineapple are staples. Macaroni and cheese, PBJ, and any kind of rice are all hits too.
