@simplyfelicity: I was worried about that but on the rare occasions he got some skin in his mouth he would just spit it out. He just learned that he could hold the skin and bite the avocado fruit off of it.

Apples (because they were in season), peppers, watermelon, potatoes, pancakes, banana. We tried avocado on and off but he's never really liked it so I stopped.

Green beans were first. Perfect for holding onto. Cucumber, broccoli, sweet potatoes, pears.
@Dagny: wow, good idea. Avocados were a big fail over here for that reason.

Broccoli, any type of squash (so many options right now), cauliflower, carrots, beets. I started with avocado and sweet potato and those were great. I recommend cutting large slices of avocado with the skin on so that LO can grip them better. I tried first with no skin and it was very difficult for LO to pick up

Spinoff of another post...

What food (s) did you start off with? I know to only try a new one every 3 days or so and nothing too sweet. I'm not really interested in rice cereals, etc. I want him to eat what we eat (though this could most certainly change.)

Here's what I have on my list...
Avocado
Sweet potato

Not much of a list, any other ideas?
