<description>&#60;p&#62;I drink more caffeine than I should and have tasted raw cookie dough. I also had soft serve once but I had forgotten I wasn't supposed to so I guess I'll pass on it for the rest of the pregnancy. It's so rare that I'd have it anyway I don't really care.&#60;br /&#62;
The biggest things I've given up are alcohol and runny eggs. I do really miss those! I don't really eat meat or high mercury fish or sushi so I didn't give it up but don't have it either. I guess unpasteurized cheeses too but I think most are pasteurized anyway.

<description>&#60;p&#62;I gave up soft cheese, raw &#38;amp; high mercury fish, deli meat, undercooked meat and eggs. During my first pregnancy I was really good about caffeine but this one I will have a cup of coffee and then a glass or two of iced tea in the afternoon also because I can't nap the way I did with my first! I drank a tiny bit of wine in my later second trimester and third trimester with DD and will probably do the same with this pregnancy.

&#60;p&#62;Both - no caffeine first tri, and then under 200 mg starting second tri. No alcohol at all. No deli meats, no sushi (this one hurts, I loooove raw fish), no oysters, no runny yolks. I had soft serve once but couldn't enjoy it bc I was terrified id get listeria. &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;5 more weeks and then I'm eating sushi and raw oysters 3x a day :)

<description>&#60;p&#62;I gave up high mercury fish.  I continued to drink coffee/tea after the first trimester (1-2 cups per day).  I also drank a glass of white wine (spritzed with seltzer) every other night or a low alcohol beer.  I avoided eating at sketchy delis and didn't each much deli meat, but went to switzerland while 8 months pregnant and ate every unpasteurized cheese in front of my face. I ate sushi but only from a japanese supermarket that had super fresh fish.

<description>&#60;p&#62;The first time I didn't eat uncooked deli meat, reduced my caffeine intake, no raw oysters, ate my meat more cooked, and gave up alcohol (except a few things here or there). &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;The second I probably did the same except I probably didn't worry about my steak.  &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Third time same except I'll eat a little lunch meat here and there and am terrible about caffeine guidelines.  Two kids, I work, I'm tired.

<description>&#60;p&#62;I don't eat unpasteurized cheese, high mercury fish, raw sushi or alcohol.  Though I'm not a huge drinker when not pregnant.  I still drink diet coke, eat deli meat, medium steaks, and runny eggs.  I have GD so I rely heavily on sugar-free drinks, meat and eggs.  Plus. the risk of getting listeria or food poisoning from these foods is pretty low.  I'm more worried about hummus and bagged spinach.

<description>&#60;p&#62;I think I've broken every &#34;rule&#34; just about once...but most notably I've significantly reduced my alcohol intake to a sip of DH's here or there, limiting my caffeine intake to less than 200mg/day and cooking my red meat &#38;amp; eggs much more thoroughly than I would typically.  The one event that stands out in my mind the most right now is the one time I had no food and the only option was a tray of deli sandwiches at a conference.  I ate away because I was STARVING!

<description>&#60;p&#62;My first two pregnancies, I gave up pretty much anything that was on any list.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;For the most recent ones, I've really only given up alcohol and I've kept other things in moderation and/or tried to be safe about them.  I've cut back slightly on caffeine, tuna, sushi (although I still eat some), and I'll heat up deli meats.  I don't worry about runny eggs or medium cooked steaks as long as I'm getting them from a reasonable place.  I don't really eat unpasteurized cheeses or cider anyway, but if I guess I technically avoid those too.

<description>&#60;p&#62;I would say I gave up high-mercury fish but they are not on my weekly rotation anyway.  But I would skip the raw sushi (raw tuna is my favorite so I think I'd avoid that because tuna is higher in mercury).  I'd probably take a bite of someone else's but order myself something else.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Otherwise I ate everything I wanted- deli meats (unheated), runny eggs, medium steaks, caffeine (stayed below 200mg though), and occasionally had some wine (not much though).&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Personally, they are finding listeria in everything (hummus, veggies, ice cream) so I might as well eat what I want.  I just go to places I've always gone and never had an issue.

This time around I have been way more relaxed and especially since my doctor told me alcohol in moderation is fine, I've been eating and drinking like normal for the most part. &#60;p&#62;Second pregnancy I KNOW I had more caffeine than I was supposed to, but I stay home with a 2 year old. I needed it. So far so good but it did concern me a little. I also had a few small glasses of wine or half beers. And deli meat I half heartedly microwaved or toasted but wasn't super careful that it was actually steaming.

I try to stay under the 200mg caffeine limit every day and otherwise totally follow the rules--listeria scares the *shit* out of me and I wouldn't touch queso fresco, deli meat, etc--I don't think the moderation rule works for listeria or toxoplasmosis. curious what everyone else is doing!
