Mine waned naturally as I weaned. I BF until DS was 13 months, but we started tapering around 10 or 11 months when he was eating solids regularly. I noticed my appetite decreased at the same time. I was also scared because I ate whatever I wanted when I wanted to and was afraid that it was the new norm. Luckily it wasn't.

I'm glad to hear that most of your appetites seemed to wane naturally. I'll try to be mindful of my consumption as LO starts to really eat solids. I'm actually looking forward to it. I'm tired of making so much food.

L is 7 months and starting to be an eating machine...my appetite is slowly racheting back to normal. Like @littlebug I'm trying to get it under control now rather than later!

my appetite decreased as baby weaned. She was fully weaned about 18 months. I, was very curious what would happen to my appetite and weight and actually the last little bit did come off and my appetite decreased. the first 3 months of bf'ing I was a ravenous beast! I would start shaking immediately after feeding her and like you. I needed food NOW. then it started to calm down and returned to a more normal appetite but still more than I usually ate.

I'm hoping for similar experience with baby 2.

I'm worried about this, too! Not only do I eat CONSTANTLY but I eat crap - chocolate, ice cream, cookies... I know that the day is going to come when I no longer need the extra calories and it's all going to catch up with me. I'm trying to get it under control now rather than suddenly packing on 10 new pounds, but man it is hard!

E hasn't weaned yet, but after 7 or 8 months (once he really started eating solids regularly) I did find my appetite starting to go back to something resembling normal.

I gave myself a pass to eat as much as I felt I wanted while I was BF, but once I was done I needed to consciously cut back. I had to count calories and spent a week feeling like I was starving. But after that first week of adjustment my appetite has been in check.

LO is 6 months and we're getting off to a slow start with solids. Until this weekend and her smidge of avocado she was EBF. I've been eating like a horse/cow/T-rex for a year now. It's gotten really bad the last couple weeks. I've found myself super HANGRY. Last week in a frantic search for food before LO's doctor appointment I stormed out of a Chipotle and then a Trader Joe's because the lines were too slow and I needed food NOW. DH thought I was insane. I had only eaten two hours before. Then I ate again after the doctor's appointment. I'm 3lbs above my pre-pregnancy weight so even though it is a ton of food I think I need the food I've been eating.

Getting to my question, at this point I've been eating as much as I want for over a year. I'm wondering if my appetite will decrease naturally or if I'll need to work at limiting myself. I've gotten used to pretty gigantic proportions.

How did your appetite change? Did you make an effort to eat less as LO weaned?
