I started getting heartbeat checks around 12 weeks I think, and then at 20 weeks I would get measured every time. Weight, BP, ask questions and off you go! They are usually pretty quick appointments.

@mrs. 64: Have fun at those appointments! It's nice to hear the Doppler. After a few I was an old pro of peeing in the cup, getting weighed, taking BP, and being up on the table with my tummy out for the Doppler when the OB got there. Lol. And write down any questions you have between visits, I always forgot mine until the day after. Oops!

Thanks guys. I'm glad to hear that they listen to baby's heartbeat with the doppler. I started to worry that they wouldn't check on him/her again until 20w and that was scary!

Exactly what @MrsF: said. My doc also answers any questions & tells me about what to expect in the coming weeks etc.

What everyone else said but they started measuring my belly pretty early at about 15/16 weeks. I remember the first time I heard the heart beat, it was so amazing. Make sure you tape it on your phone if you can!

They'll check your weight, blood pressure, check your urine for protein, listen to baby with the doppler, measure your belly (maybe only later on?) and talk to you about how you're feeling.

At my appointments the nurse checks my BP and weight then the doctor checks baby's heart rate. Later on she also measured my fundal height, but that was after 20 weeks I think. Then she would ask if there were any questions or concerns or we would chat for a few minutes.

I've only peed in a cup once to make sure I didn't have a bladder infection...but my BP has been really good throughout my pregnancy, so I'm not sure if that has something to do with not checking my urine.

We always do a urine test (for protein and sugar), check my BP, and listen to the little on the Doppler.

Check heartbeat of you and baby including other vitals. I didn't have an ultrasound until 20 weeks and it was my only one! Each week tho my midwife would give educational material on many different things- I always enjoyed my appts!

Exactly what deerylou said! They also check your weight gain and test your urine for protein so don't pee before you go into the office!

They'll listen to the baby on the doppler, and just check in with you. Later in your pregnancy, they'll also start measuring your belly. They're quick visits, but they'll take good care. Don't worry!

So far both of my OB appointments have had ultrasounds (8 weeks and 12 week NT scan). My next appointment will not have one. I assume they will just ask me how everything is going, but will they check on baby in any way? Will they check for the heartbeat? It makes me nervous to go all the way to 20 weeks without someone checking on him/her. I just want to know what to expect.
