:) i say do whatever you and dh feel the best about!!

for us, that was sleep training. thankfully he was already a good sleeper, and after we sleep trained at 3 months he's been super flexible with where he sleeps as well. he's done great on 3 different trips (sleeping in a new place for a few weeks/days at a time) and also sleeping at friends' homes when we go over for dinner at night. lo hasn't woken up even once in the night since he was 3 months old.... he's 12 months now. i don't know if it is just unique to our LO, but all to say it could possibly work out okay with sleep training plus moving twice! :) these little babies can be pretty resilient at times! :)

i really hope it works out for you guys!! moving is no joke! you guys are awesome :)

I don't dig sleep training, and it's worked out just fine for my daughter at 20 months. She sttn half the time, and the other time she wakes up, my husband snuggles her back up (she sleeps on a floor bed), and she goes happily back to sleep. I expect her to drop that wake up at some point, but it works just fine for us.

I would wait. We only sleep trained because DD was waking 3-4 x per night. At 1 yr, it was like magic and she just started sttn on her own.

We tried sleeping training at three different times while LO was under 1 year. It never worked. He figured out STTN when he was just over 1 year and has slept ever since. I agree that it really depends on the baby.

I think you should only sleep train if her wake ups are detrimental to you/your lifestyle/her mood. It sounds like her wakeups are you negatively, so if that's the case then I would sleep train--just because other people can deal with multiple night wakings just fine doesn't mean that you need to martyr yourself and do the same. If you don't sleep train she will definitely sttn--at some point. The question is whether you are willing/able to wait to out. So basically, how desperate are you lol. We were pretty desperate when we finally sleep trained--I literally dreaded every night.

I also think that you could do it now and be fine. 7 wks in your cond is a long time, plenty of time to really get her in a good rhythm, which will then make it easier to pick back up when you move.

I say don't sleep train for now. 1-2x a night (although it is a total pain) is a walk in the park compared to what some babies do!

I would wait until you are moved into a new place, and she is in an environment that she can begin to grow comfortable in. Once she's used to it, I would sleep train then if she is still waking up by then. But who knows, by the time you are in your new, beautiful home she might have figured it out. :)

I didn't sleep train (yet) although there have been times where we let lo cry because nothing was working and she was obviously needing to sleep. So far we have just been riding out the rough periods and she's usually returned to normal. She's 8 months old.

LO was always a good night time sleeper, but not a good napper. Suddenly at 8 months she decided she wanted to nap in her crib with no nap training, and we haven't had problems since. She's 22 months.

We never really sleep trained. We used some techniques to get him to try to go back to sleep on his own (ie, not responding right away). It wasn't until 7 months or so that he was really conssitent with STTN. There are distruptions when he is sick, but since 7 months we coudl more or less count on him to sleep through. Before that, it was hit or miss, but he did it more often than not aftter 5/6 months.

We never sleep trained, and believe me when I say they DO figure it out when they are ready and there is no crucial "skill" that you are holding them back from. But some take longer than others to be ready. Ellie struggled until she was about 4.5, but now she is a world-class awesome sleeper and is totally independent.

I never sleep trained. I missed him so much during the work week I was okay with getting little sleep and co-slept/nursed as needed. By a year old I could ask him if it was bedtime and he would tell me that he was ready for bed.
And he rarely wakes up during the night, sleeping form 8:30-9 until 7-7:30 pretty consistently.

I know that this doesn't work out this way for everyone though!

Nothing bad happens if you don't sleep train. Eventually they sleep. For M that meant 4 months, for L it took a long time. I think a lot of it has to do with personalities.

^ Same. He was on one wake-up for a long time, until about a year. I was OK with that. Right around the time he started self-weaning, he dropped the last night waking. Now it's been a year of him sleeping for 11 hours a night without a peep.

I think what you think is best is what will work for you. We went through patches where LO would wake up and as soon as I picked her up she would start playing around and being goofy. Well it wasn't hard for me to put her in her crib and let her cry to sleep! Something as big as a move will most likely either way disrupt her sleep (as anyone elses!). I think you should do what you feel is best for baby AND for yourself. There's no right or wrong. Good luck and hopefully you can get some sleep!

Idk, we never sleep trained and both of my kids figured it out at 1 year old. We also moved twice in the last 6 months and both times they started waking up more at night. It took about 1 month to settle in after our first move and about 2 Weeks to settle after our second move. Personally, I would just wait it out.

We need to sleep train. My girl used to STTN and ever since she started rolling, she has been waking up 1-2x a night. I don't even know if the rolling is what wakes her up, it's just the only other thing that happened around the time her sleep went to crap... I nurse to sleep. When she wakes up, I nurse her. She'll sleep 8:45, wake up at 1 or 2, and then again at 5 or 6 before getting up for the day around 830. It sucks!

I was all set to sleep train this past Monday, and then she STTN 3 nights in a row! She tricked me! But she's back to her shenanigans now:)

The reasons why I'm super chicken about it, more so than the average mom, is bc we are moving in exactly 2 weeks into a condo we're subletting for 7 weeks, and then moving into the house we're building. So looooooots of disruption ahead and I wonder if I sleep trained her (Ferber) if it would be all for nothing bc it will just get screwed up again???

And if you DON'T sleep train, don't they eventually figure it out themselves- self soothing/going back to sleep/etc? I read that most kids who go from STTN to having issues between 5-7 mos old will eventually go back to STTN on their own.

Should I wait it out? Did you avoid sleep training and just suffered and eventually it all worked out?

Part of me feels like she'd be easy to sleep train since I'm only trying to knock out that one Wakeup between 1-2. I can handle that 5-6am one.

I'm so torn!!!!
