Also filling out the paperwork for the hospital for the birth of our second child. Definitely feel 100% like an adult these days. In fact, a friend mentioned she was remodeling and that made her feel like a grown up and I started wondering about what makes me feel like a grown up and started this thread. @wrkbrk: Building your own house =grown up status....I've never done that before! I just realized how different things you experience in life will make us feel like a grown up, things you finally do even though at one time it was totally unknown to you. It's the same feeling as our kids feel as the grow to be 'big kids', whether it's learning to walk or tying a shoe or their latest milestone. We actually owned our condo before but we had been renting and bought directly from our landlord, so no house hunt, moving, improvements to do. This feels very different. For me, my latest 'grown up milestone' is bringing my mom along on a big trip that I coordinated and am paying a chunk of her expenses. I'm used to her taking care of my travel as she used to do that in her line of work so this is a new one for me. (By the way, I asked LO this question and she said, learning to read makes her feel like a big kid.) :)
